How low can your credit score fall before it matters?
It seems there is little benefit to raising it beyond let's say 725. How far can it fall before you start to fail credit checks? Considering stiffing my home alarm company.
Thanks

You get below 550 and that'll cause issues

If I stiff $40/month x 16 months, how do you figure that would drop my credit score? Currently 775 or so.

credit score does not matter unless you want to make a fukkin big time purchase
once you start stiffing, you might as well keep going

It won't drop it at all, but they'll sell that $650 ticket to a 3rd party who may or may not pursue it...but not for a couple years.
My advice, offer them $200 up front to terminate, avoid the surprise down the road when you go to apply for a LOC somewhere.

Experian BOOOOOOST
Any missed payments can hurt. Cell phone companies reporte monthly ms. Some utility companies will report ,some dont. Mortgage payments dont help credit, only hurt it if u dont make the payments. Not much other than zero missed payments and less than 30% credit utilization will help. Seems just being alive is a detriment to a credit score.

Why would they wait a couple years?

Who are we looking to stiff? Credit scores are funny. Mine is eternally stuck at 726.

Minnesota is right... depends on the 3rd party. They could report and if it dings your score a point or two on interest would be far more expensive than just paying the shit now.

best thing you could do is get an 18 month 0% interest on balance transfers
then pay w.e you need to

I can afford to pay. I just don't want to. I believe they've violated their contract terms. They disagree. I stopped paying a month ago.

We've reached an impasse in our negotiations. I have written them formally several times on the matter and they do not even respond. As such, I have ceased all payments and deactivated the home alarm system. Ironically, I just unplugged it all and they didn't call me or notify me that my system was down.

It's half of the reason I stopped paying anyways. For years they also had my home address wrong, too. I asked multiple times to fix it. Where would the cavalry go if someone broke in??

Wow. Interesting. I’d be shocked if they pursued it.

Credit score is figured into your auto and property insurance rates too. Pay it and move on.

This is how a cuck thinks. I am not paying it on a matter of principle. They are not honoring the contract and don't even have my address right. I'm not honoring the payment part of the contract now.
When consumers bend over like you, businesses start to expect it and are less reluctant to engage in shady practices.
I once got a pre-approval letter from a bank for a credit card. I then applied and they rejected me. So I closed my whole account at the bank. How else are these f***heads going to learn not to mess with people?

If I could get 400k on my credit card or line of credit I wouldn't need a credit score period

I would not recommend making a decision without consulting a professional.
You may want to consult Sunrise Debt Solutions for their expertise on this matter.

Even if your score goes down, you have borrowing options:

as someone who has come back from credit issues, my recommendation is make a settlement with them. you take a chance with how they will proceed.
if they just write it off with no collection agency, you are fine. but if they give to an agency who wants to be tough guys, they will report you as their way to get you to pay. the problem becomes even if you settle with the agency the delinquent part is on your report for a long time. for $640 bucks, maybe they will take $300 and you avoid a surprise in the future.
