Ironically Maynard fuckked up the lyrics to his own song in that performance.

                      The lyrics go

Jesus won't you fukking whistle something but the past and done

                      and then the next verse

Mother Mary won't you whisper something but the past and done

                      He says Mother Mary twice

So he left out the Jesus curse verse?

If so, it's easy to understand why.

He was always big on not releasing lyrics on his albums
on account of his belief of his fans and critics not
                        understanding them.

Honestly I think he just fukked up and didn't course correct. He's not exactly one to edit lyrics. I've seen them live a bunch and he fukks up sometimes.

Either that or the video of the performance is altered and whoever edited it didn't realize they put in the wrong clip.

You know, I find it quite ironic some of the most anti religion denouncing artists
were raised with very strong religious backgrounds.

Maynard James Keenan and especially Marilyn Manson are just a few that comes to mind.

                                Whoa,checkout the depth of Tool's "Forty-Six & 2".

The song is based on two ideas: shadow (from the works of Carl Jung) and
morphogenetic grids (explained by Drunvalo Melchizedek).

Jung explained "shadow" as the part of one's being that one hates and fears.

Melchizedek believed that the human body will eventually reach a state
when there'll be 48 chromosomes (46 autosomes and 2 sex chromosomes)
instead of usual 46 (44 and 2 consequently).

This was the 1st ever live performance of this song in 96.

Join in my, join in my child,
And listen, I've been digging through my old numb shadow...

                                My shadow's
                                Shedding skin
                                I've been picking
                                Scabs again.
                                I'm down
                                Digging through
                                My old muscles
                                Looking for a clue.

I've been crawling on my belly
                                Clearing out what could've been.
I've been wallowing in my own confused and insecure delusions
For a piece to cross me over
Or a word to guide me in.
I wanna feel the changes coming down.
I wanna know what I've been hiding in
                                My shadow.
                                My shadow.

Change is coming through my shadow.
                                My shadow's shedding skin
                                I've been picking
                                My scabs again.

                                Join in my

                                Closer to meaning

I've been crawling on my belly

I've been wallowing in my own chaotic, insecure delusions.

I wanna feel the change consume me,
                                Feel the outside turning in.
I wanna feel the metamorphosis and
                                Cleansing I've endured in
                                My shadow
                                My shadow

                                Change is coming.
                                Now is my time.
                                Listen to my muscle memory.
Contemplate what I've been clinging to.
                                Forty-six & 2 ahead of me.

I choose to live and to grow,
Take and give and to move,
Learn and love and to cry,
Kill and die and to be paranoid and to lie,
Hate and fear and to do
What it takes to move through.

I choose to live and to lie,
Kill and give and to die,
Learn and love and to do
What it takes to step through.

                                See my shadow changing,
                                Stretching up and over me.
                                Soften this old armor.
Hoping I can clear the way
                                By stepping through my shadow,
                                Coming out the other side.
                                Step into the shadow.
Forty-six & 2 are just ahead of me.

46 and 2 and Eulogy are probably my favorite Tool songs.

Did you know that the band today (not sure about the first 2 or 3 albums) writes and composes all of the arrangements before Maynard even writes any lyrics? He was on Joe Rogan I think talking about their process. I thought that was interesting.

Seen Tool last fall in Pittsburgh. Surprised that they didn't play Sober or Prison Sex.

                                          Show was amazing.

                                            Lol.

Have you ever seen this doc from the UK on them?

They sought out their Producer David Bottril while many others
                                            were kicking in their door.

At 1st Bottril thought they were mistaken him for someone else since he didn't produce metal.

They replied we want you because we want to be different from everyone
and you're the man to do it.

After Bottril started working with them he said producing Tool was the easiest job he ever had on account of every member of the band was so professional from a to z.

Yeah that tour was pretty awesome. The set list was basically the same for the tour - I think they had 2 variations - nothing from Undertow unfortunately.

Maynard James Keenan is first of all known for being the lead singer and
songwriter of Tool, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer.

But he’s also a great example of a modern day renaissance man.

He’s a rock star, record producer, actor, author and winemaker.

The guy even built his own gym to practice jiu jitsu.

As of now he lives a reclusive life in Arizona. But who is he, really?

My favorite Maynard James Keenan moment.

More than 10 years ago, when members of Tool were living in their basement bomb shelter.

Because they believed Planet X (Nibiru) was about to cause the end of the world.
