It's okay to be a tough guy without the mask but your kids are a different story.
Are you okay to send your kids to school?

#8Time to home school.. It's the better avenue over public schools anyways..
Get with other parents in your neighborhood and form a home schooling program or else your kids will quickly become retards and drive you crazy at home doing nothing!!!Comment -

When the school year ended in the spring the district came up with the option in the Fall for students to stay home and go through an internet home type schooling but still with the district. If parents weren't comfortable sending kids to school, they could choose the option.
We had always planned to send them back to school. My son starting Jr. High, it's a big deal.
Now, with recent numbers, they won't be having any students back to campus in August and they will be monitoring weekly the county cases and hospital stress.
But that decision by the district is directly related to not stressing the health care system, the way all shutdowns are supposed to be, not related to fear of children getting sick.
So yes, the moment the students can go to campus, my kids will go. I would send them now, as I don't think the county numbers are that bad, but they have been trending in a bad direction so I see why the decision was made.

#11If we were fearful and decided to keep the kids home for that reason, then when would we send them back? There won't be a vaccine, it's a corona. Even when one is marketed, it will be unreliable and not actually tested in the current environment.
Maybe we could wait for a milder mutation to be prominent, but that's a bit ridiculous to say the least.
A cold virus, especially this one, can't stop the kids from living life, it just can't.Comment -

#12Yeah, they live with me.
Wife's idea.
My son works at Walmart and his wife works at a Nursing Home. They both got COVID, both were a-systematic. Both had it for 2 weeks then tested negative. Kids were never affected. I stayed far away, so did my wife. Luckily we both didn't catch it.
Wish I could talk them into home schooling but it's not happening so far.
I think they will both enjoy Kindergarten and Pre-K.Comment -

#14What, you think your rolling the dice or something? The numbers, and even the numbers of scary unkowns with children specifically are really small.

#22Better to let your kids get dirty and catch colds while they are young because, as you can see, catching bad colds as an adult can turn very bad very quick.

#27Cases are rising and death is being avoided as they supportive care, including the use of HQ, has really improved.
We lockdown to flatten the curve and avoid overwhleming the health system.
We don't lock down to avoid getting sick altogether.
They are two different things.Comment -

#29Exactly. Kids are not dying from this. They are more likely to die on the car ride there than from covid. That being said I don't have a choice. Here in Santa Cruz it's gonna be "zoom school." F that. I'm just gonna home school. Was thinking about it before covid anyways.Comment -

#32Nope. But if they wanted to, there's hardly anyone to be exposed to, things are really quiet.
I'm not going to be the guy that takes his kids to the park when no one else does, because no one else did...lol.
Plus it's hot, they swim at home and are inside for the most part. Most activites are curtailed around here anyway and we aren't traveling right now, that's for sure.Comment -

#33Exactly, we shutdown, especially in California, and never even got a curve.
Now we are managing what we should have managed in March.
But it's easy to be a Monday morning QB, the broad shutdown early on when we didn't know shit was necessary.
But staying shutdown so long when we didn't have cases just gave everyone lockdown fatigue.
Now, when local shutdowns are needed, nobody listens, they turn it political and become idiots.Comment -

#34Kids are immune you scared fools!!! Turn off the Liberal fear baiting fake news... Maybe kids bring it home and you get the flu for a few days and then recover and right around the time the actual vaccine comes out..
Corona is gonna be over sooner then most think.. Virus is getting weaker, fewer people are dying from it, and a vaccine is coming soon..
ALL GOOD!!Comment -
