Is a virus supposed to be like a parasite where it and its host can live together happily? If so, will covid start mutating until it's reached that goal? Scientists check in. Jibby, M.D., PhD, world renowned epidemiologist, check in.
Is the real purpose of a virus for it to get along with others?

#3The virus's purpose is to reproduce. Once that's done, the host be damned.
But if you kill all the hosts, then that won't work.
And if you kill a host too soon, before it can help you effectively reproduce, then that won't work either.
The most successful viruses keep the host walking around spreading everywhere. Some are common colds that have been around a very long time.
A virus is not classified as a parasite, usually, (goes back to that "is a virus alive" debate), but in a sense it is a non living parasite because it does need life to do it's thing.
COVID doesn't mutate, that's the disease caused by SARS-CoV-2.
And that can mutate all sorts of ways, including sideways.
It doesn't always end up a mild cold that eventually just gets passed around.Comment -

#4One successful mutation seems to be that antibodies for these widely known deadlier corona's (SARS, MERS, etc) are clearly not permanent.
In fact none of them last more than two years. And this current one shows evidence of lasting a matter of months or less.
So now the same virus can reinfect a host and continue doin' it's thang.
Do that without killing everyone and you'll be around forever.Comment -

#8If this were true it would be widely publicized. The genome of the virus is being studied world wide and there is no way a lab produced virus, or even one that was genetically altered, wouldn't be detected.
The genes keep a history of where the virus has been.
I'm often skeptical of a lot of "facts" out there, and for good reason, but even the "consipiracy theorist" in me can't see this virus being intentional.
It just doesn't add up.Comment -

#11There is now some recent studies that the immunity and efficacy of being infected is questionable and short lived.
Very bad news.Comment -

#12As a virus mutates into different strains, the less lethal ones generally become more prominent. This is because (as stated above), the virus requires a living being in order for it to survive and spread. If a more lethal virus kills it's victims before it is able to spread, then it too eventually "dies off". But the less lethal ones infect people without killing them and those people are able to spread it on to other people and so on and so on.
To say that this virus was not genetically altered does NOT mean that it didn't come from a lab. A naturally occurring virus can be cultivated in a lab for any number of reasons.Comment -
