Is Nick Dipaulo the dude from Staten Island? That guy doesn't have nearly enough material to be considered in this category. I've watched like 10 different shows of him and it's just the same material over and over again.

                Bill burr/Dave Chapelle/Daniel Tosh pre-tv show.

Bill Hicks died in his early 30s in the 90s. His stuff is great. Google him if you get a chance.

One of his appearances on Letterman actually got censored. After he died Letterman has his mom on the show and aired the censored set in full.

Not deceased. Age 67. You'd think he was dead, based on his wt, but still going.

Saw him in Palace Station casino few years back. Had to chance to compliment him, told him he was a funny guy. He did look super-lonely, was just banging away at a slot machine.

The modern comedians (like Joe Rogan) talk about Hicks w/ reverance. Hicks didn't care about appeasing anyone. Just spoke + let it stick, to be respected.

I vote for 1) Patton Oswalt and 2) Bill Burr.

I don't think people realize how hard it is to come up w/ an hour of material that will fly. Like a rock band, you just run out of ideas.

My first year in college in 1991 I saw Bill Hicks in Austin. Mind blowing stuff. Very thought provoking and funny as hell.

I’ve seen Eddie Murphy - late 80s - in his prime as well as Chappell about 4 or 5 years ago. He was right up there with Chappell. I’d love to see how his career would have turned out if not for his early death.

Yeah, he seemed like such a natural.

Like the beatles to modern music or Michael Jackson to performances, there's a little bit of Eddie in a lot of comediens mentioned above.
