Seems bleak if it’s been 3 weeks. Need to hire a russel Crowe type from proof of life and hope he doesn’t steal your girl in the process.

Interesting theory about him staging it. You’d think he would be able to flee a place like Costa Rica with the right connections no problem. Take your family and as much money as you can and live the rest of your life in another country. Maybe they will be joining him at some point when things cool down if this theory is true.

Costa Rica is a beautiful place but full of scammers and desperate bad ppl. You get warned about one trick in particular that many fall victim to. When you rent a car it’s quite common for someone to slash your tire and follow you until you pull over and offer to help and then proceed to rob you

Everyone is assuming some tico street gang is behind this but has anyone looked into possible connections to the book like a scorned player who got kicked out or maybe some desperate loser who lost his life savings? I hope the authorities are looking into every angle.

how could someone who lost everything be able to fund a kidnapping like this with co-conspirators and BMW's, etc. If I was looking into this, would probably look at the employee he was giving a ride to.

Also, a family of 4 with 2 young kids from around here and was close friends with a friend of mine. They rented a condo and died the first night there because they never serviced the heater and the family died of gas poisoning. So, I would like to go to Hawaii someday but I think that's the only place I trust off the mainland.

Yup, I use to travel alot mostly on surfing trips with friends.. I've got dozens of stories to tell with close calls in Mexico, South America and the Philippines. Dicey situations for me with friends in Panama and Costa Rica ironically enough.. Panama we got attacked at night walking and almost got sliced and jacked by a crazy local man wielding a big sharp machete demanding our money, the other time in Costa Rico, the locals were rioting because they wanted their roads fixed, I was in a cab and they blocked us and started throwing large rocks at the cab, mobs of people throwing rocks at cars.. We were basically getting stoned sitting in a cab car.. Car got destroyed, glass everywhere, and the cab driver almost ran people over getting us out of there.

I got a bunch of stories in deep Mexico to... Lucky to alive today to be honest... I was a traveler in my late 20's and 30's when I had the chance.. Was fun though, no regrets.. Wouldn't try all that today.. Times have gotten more dangerous in the places I went to years ago..

Not sure why a Cartel connect would care/risk their operation for 1 million though, unless they believed they could get much more

You'd have to kill me first before I let anyone kidnap me.. I wouldn't go quietly, they'd have to shoot me dead right there.. I wouldn't want to put my family through that..

I've seen all those kidnapping shows in the jungle or with Muslim radicals in Somali and other hot spots and they are all disturbing and horrific.. People can be held for months to. I hate it all!!!! Makes me mad....
