#37https://news.co.cr/judiciary-police-investigate-disappearance-of-us-expat-who-owns-a-sportsbook-in-costa-rica/76738/
Walter Espinoza, chief of the Judiciary Investigative Police (OIJ), confirmed today that OIJ has been investigating the disappearance of a US Expat since September 25.
William Sean Creighton owner of an online sportsbook that operates in San Pedro, better known as “Tony”, was last seen the evening of September 24 when he left his work and reportedly went to drop off a co-worker in the area of Curridabat.
The 43-year-old expat holds the Costa Rican nationality, he is married to a Costa Rican with whom he has children. The family reportedly lives in Santa Ana. Creighton has had business in the country for close to 18 years.
According to Espinoza, Costa Rican authorities are investigating this case as a disappearance or a possible kidnapping, however, the police has not received any requests for the payment of a ransom since the report of missing person was filed back on September 25.
“We have limited information and we cannot share many details because the life of a person is on the line”, explained Espinoza.Comment -

#39Horrible news for Tony and has close ones. can't imagine that ordeal
hope somehow it ends well.
as far as the book If you have recreational amounts there, i'd not worry too much, if anything went really wayword, i'd think a bigger book like Bookmaker would buy out a book like 5dimes with its huge customer base and brand notoriety.
wouldn't be depositing and wouldn't be holding big bankrolls there.Comment -

#52Tony from 5Dimes was kidnapped, family paid $750,000 ransom, and he's still missing
Video is in Spanish. His family paid the ransom in crypto. The news only says that the gringo's first name is Tony, but word on the streets in the sportsbook scene here is that it's Tony from 5Dimes.Comment -

#54William Sean 'Tony' Creighton, founder of online sportsbook 5Dimes, reported missing in Costa Rica since September 24, rumored to have been kidnapped.
Costa Rica police are investigating the disappearance of the owner of local online sportsbook 5Dimes after he was reported missing late last month.
On Tuesday, Costa Rica’s Judiciary Investigative Police (OIJ) confirmed that they are investigating the disappearance of 43-year-old William Sean Creighton, known throughout the online sports betting world simply as ‘Tony,’ who hasn’t been seen since he left work on the night of September 24. His wife, a Costa Rican national, reported him missing the following day.
OIJ chief Walter Espinoza told reporters that police have yet to receive any ransom requests and declined to offer any further specifics, citing the sensitivity of the ongoing investigation. But local tabloid media outlet Diario Extrareported that Creighton had been abducted by up to four men and that a sizable ransom had already been paid by his family.
According to this report, Creighton’s Porsche Cayenne Turbo (pictured) was forced off the road that night by two gunmen on a motorcycle and two more individuals in a BMW. Creighton’s wife reportedly received a call from his captors later that night, demanding payment of US$750k. (CRhoy.com claimed the ransom was $1m, so all these reports should probably be taken with a grain of salt.)
Creighton reportedly spoke to his wife during this call to assure her that he was fine, and a payment in ‘virtual currency’ was said to have been transmitted electronically to his captors that same night. However, Creighton’s release never came.
The report indicated that Creighton’s family had hired private investigators — allegedly former agents of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation — before contacting the police.
CalvinAyre.com joins the rest of the online gambling industry in praying for Tony’s swift and safe return to his family.Comment -

#59If true that's crazy... Gambling a shady business... Kidnapping for ransom should result in the death penalty as far as I'm concerned.. That's a world problem also... I hate it!!!!

#62It's been 3 weeks so most likely he's dead because why wouldn't the kidnappers release him after getting paid? This is exactly why I don't travel to countries like these, after visiting Mexico twice I'm never going back because everyone is trying to rip you off. Who knows, maybe they got a Plan B in case of a sudden death.Comment -

In foreign shit Countries travel with groups of people and not just by yourself and or with just your girl friend. Mexico and West Africa are especially known for kidnapping.. South America as well.. Middle East as well.. Just about any Muslim based Country...
Any where there is poverty rich people become immediate targets... I don't travel anymore outside America... Not worth it.. Thugs will kidnap you even in the hoods of America if you are really flashy.. More likely to get robbed though..Comment -
