would literally say its probably been the worst year of hiphop lol
all these new rappers have 0 lyrical skill and just mumble some dumb irrelevant shittt..
dont get me wrong i like some migos songs for the gym but lil yachty, 21 savage, xxxtenction some of these guys are straight garbage its actually laughable , flows ass, lyrics are worse

these freshman xl classes past 2 years been so garbage ive seen people freestyle at parties better then these dudes... props to them for getting $ but literally 0 rap talent

2010 era with young money , kanye and that stuff was the best music imo , skill was involved and it was good party music

Russ - penetrate I slept on him, he's really talented as well. Tory is nice too, reminds me a lot of Bryson Tiller.

Bro. Let me share a Spotify playlist with you of the top tracks from some of these young guns. See if I can change your mind.

A lot of people confuse the phrase "I could care less" with "I couldn't care less". To say "I could care less" means you have some level care so it doesn't mean what people are trying to say usually.

In this case, "I couldn't care less", although accurately saying I have zero level of care about this year in hip hop, isn't quite accurate because it just conveys being uninterested, but no level of disgust that i feel because hip hop actually exists and is called music. However maybe being disgusted does qualify as caring, so "I could care less" might be more appropriate in this situation.

As boring and unimportant as my previous statements may seem, they are still infinitely more ingenious and insightful than anything in hip hop from 2017 or the 1990's.

It doesn't seem like any of the new rappers can put together a good hook/sound and meaningful lyrics together. Like this Magnolia song posted in here; I like the beat and all but the lyrics are garbage. Then you have guys like Tyler, the Creator that have amazing lyrics but just bizarre background beats that make it hard to listen to.

And that DNA song sucks too.

Agree Playboi Carti probably not as nice of a lyricist as Tyler, Earl, etc. But god damn that boy's mixtape is flames, and he's like 20 years old.....ridiculous.

Kendrick Lamar, although pretty good, is so overrated it's not even funny. Saw him perform at Coachella...meh. All the other rappers today are ok at best but they're not as terrible as I thought prior to 2016.

Without Kanye producing (now that he's been killed), rap will die without another superstar producer.

yup its sick how they just bounce off eachother, they have a ton of good freestyling videos
the first guy Oktane is my fav dude as well he goes offf

this newer guy rapping Joyner Lucas is amazing too, guy has some amazing videos of story lines with his raps one is the perspective of a $100 bill and how it passes through everybody and it comes back right where it started, or a story of a gang member who befriended some new guy in school and shoots him in the head with a shotgun and leaves him to die but he survived ( true story ) shows from both guys perspectives its pretty great .... plus he has hype songs for the gym to hes a beast of a rapper

I haven't been keeping up with any new music at all, especially hip hop. Been looking around and finally found a guy I like:

Don't even know how "new" he is. I dig this song and he did an updated version of C.R.E.A.M that's real nice.
