GK, I Iove the guy. He is very cool in my book.

I think you made a great point too with your initial comparison which made me consider the whole question of who has a better public image.

It's a fascinating philosophical comparison to me because they both are extremely polarizing for opposite reasons.

Would go to war with him before Wilson for sure.

    Your posts are really good.

        Yes I agree.
Religion is like a really public team that always wins but never covers. It's fun to be a fan but easy to bet against.

I disagree. In gambling, winners pay the juice, or vigorish. Losers just lose their bet.

Unless I have it wrong, in the analogy it works out the same. Winners made a disciplined sacrifice, threw personal temptations and egos aside, admitted and submitted to the Almighty. In spite of ridicule and persecution, the winner held steadfast. The winner likely sacrificed time to study the Word, etc.

While it may not feel like a cost, for this price, this commission, the winner, God willing, gets the prize. Once again, the loser just loses the bet, albeit a costly one. The loser likely paid little in commission.

Now, because of the nature of money lines, should the underdog win, he too would likely be shorted real, or close to real, odds...the commission. I guess that's up to the book.

Not perception, reality...losers just lose what they risk...

But for the love of all that's Holy, don't bet against God.

kind of funny you guys equate it to gambling; i do that too - always said this is the biggest bet of ones life - pretty confident i'm on the sharp side.

Perhaps you should do your homework first scumbag. Nothing personal bro, but sharps do their homework, it's what makes us sharper than you.

Further, seems you carry all the risk here. Also not a very sharp position.

there is very little homework to do. the smartest agree the chances of the god/heaven/hell existing are less than 1%. and LOL that bible thumpers are the sharps. you take your beliefs from some authoritarian who can't be questioned. it's the sports betting equivalent of hiring a tout who you never question, and giving him a percentage every time you collect - but most the time you don't collect - at which point he says, "you gotta have faith."

of course bible thumping comes with risk. you give up money, experiences, etc. so go ahead and give up all earthly pleasures - so you get to float off one day - i suspect you'll be beyond tilted when it doesn't happen.
