Just made some spicy garlic/dill pickles - I’m giving that big jar away to one of my friends for his birthday. I’ll let you know how they taste in about a month when they’re ready.
Cheers ‘Fly Me’ Crew!

#151730You see the Lending Tree commercial with those two twats?
I swear, if I was some sort of psycho I would not think twice about gunning down the Linda bitch dead.
Yeah, that kind of annoying.
One of the best lines I ever heard from Law and Order was when Green and Briscoe asked the serial killer why'd he gun down all those women, the serial killer said "I don't trust anything that bleeds for three days and lives"

Moonlighting was appointment TV for a lot of us.
In 1988 cable was just starting to boom, it was still NBC for comedy, and ABC for a mix of things.
The only recording method there was was the DVR, and they were the size of trunks you used in the Army, and God forbid you should get a recording of decent quality, so it was wither tune in when aired, or you missed it.
That infamous writers strike doomed Moonlighting, that show leaned heavily on David Addison's (Bruce Willis) snappy, off the cuff one liners, without Glen Gordon Caron's brilliant writing, like I said, doomed.
That was Willis's first role, before Moonlighting Willis was slinging vodka tonics in the West Village in NYC, nobody knew Bruce Willis from Bruce Wayne, was so hot he won Emmy for best actor, Golden Globes, everything.
Was so hot, and you could tell right off he was hot, and you knew he was going to be the next big thing.
Sure as shit, if shit can be sure, the second Moonlighting went off the air, the money people producing the first Die Hard movie snatched him up for the lead, and from there we know the rest of the story.
He went from living off of tips, to Hollywood A-list megastar in a (pardon the pun) New York minute.
Willis is one of pop cultures greatest success stories, ever.Comment -

#151736Remington Steele and Moonlighting were definitely appointment TV.
My uncle worked for NBC at the time and actually had a Remington Steele business card that was framed and I thought that was the coolest thing ever.Comment -

They were all good shows until the strike, then scripted drama scripts sucked for awhile, Law and order, the original, brought scripted dramas back to life, now they're all (for the most part) terrific again.
Medical dramas are hot right now, police dramas too.Comment -

#151738I'd forgotten how much I liked Moonlighting at the time. Never missed an episode.
I think when we all had to wait and watch TV shows at the same time it made these shows feel more important to us..Comment -

I'm one of the shittiest pool player ever, unless I'm drinking.
Once I had a couple of pops in me I turned into Willie Mosconi.
I'm banking in caroms off of two cushions, shots like that when I have a buzz going on.

I never used a DVR but by 1988 VCR's had gotten a lot smaller the front load had been out for a few years and I got a Panasonic in 86 or 87 that was small compared to the top loads from the early 80's.

I have seen 'Wiseguy' watched it off and on, quality show.
I'm dedicated to two shows which I make an appointment to watch, three others I watch on a regular basis.
There's about six others I enjoy a lot, too bad there's only enough time to watch two shows religiously.Comment -

I did a “1-1-1-1” ratio:
1 cup of water, 1 cup of white vinegar, 1 cup of apple cider vinegar, 1 big tablespoon of kosher salt. Brought it to a boil, and then poured it straight hot into the jars stuffed with the pickling spice, peppercorns, cucumbers, garlic cloves, fresh dill, & red pepper flakes. I kind of just eyeballed what we put in the jars - whatever looks good.
Don't use regular cucumbers, they’re too soft & will just turn to mush. Get “pickling” cucumbers - we used Persian ones because that’s what the store had available. Make sure to cut the ends off, or they will turn bitter (that’s what the interweb said, so that’s why I did it)
Oh, and the pickling spice had dried Thai chilis in it already…..Comment -

I like it.
"Keep Rock Alive"
I had some concerns regarding the future of rock, a quick look at the charts is encouraging.
Nice to see the Chili Peppers on top and kicking ass still.
They truly define the words 'epic band'
I love the Indie/Alt bands
Nice to see "Imagine Dragons" up there too.
They're a Vegas band who got help starting out by my band, another Vegas band "The Killers"
I really like "Death Cab" too. another ALT band still going strong.
Weezer's still got it I see, Kate Bush and Black Keys too.
Rock is in OK shape still, I do have to admit, there's a couple of bands on the charts that I am not familiar with.
