Marijuana drastically shrinks Brain Tumors

A new study has found that when the cannabinoids THC and CBD are used to treat cancerous brain tumors with radiotherapy,
the tumors will shrink and even disappear.
Researchers at St. George’s University of London set out to decide once and for all if THC and CBD, the most well known cannabinoids in marijuana, actually have an effect on brain tumors, as many pro-pot scientists predict and activists claim. They divided laboratory mice with brain tumors into four treatment groups: radiation only, cannabinoid treatment only, radiation and cannabinoid treatment, and a control group that received no treatment. Of the four groups, researchers found that the combination treatment of radiation and cannabinoids yielded the most beneficial results by far.
Senior Research Fellow Dr. Wai Liu said, “In some cases, the tumors effectively disappeared in the animals.”
Brain cancer is extremely difficult to treat and kills about 5,200 people a year. Five years after the first diagnosis, the survival rate of patients is around 10%—meaning 90% of people diagnosed with brain cancer will be dead within five years.
the research team is looking into human clinical trials next.
