#26750Carmelo Anthony Waiting For Bulls, Rockets To Clear Cap Space
With Carmelo Anthony determined to test free agency this summer, it appears as though two teams are emerging ahead of the pack to get the All-Star forward. Anthony is waiting for the Chicago Bulls and Houston Rockets to position themselves to offer him a contract
The 30-year-old is “leaning toward leaving in pursuit of immediate championship contention,” and that the Bulls and Rockets are at the top of his list as he waits for the two teams to “clear the necessary salary-cap space to sign him in free agency,”
Hmmm.

Still won't cover the glaring holes at the PF and PG spots. Melo can play as a stretch 4, but he can't actually be relied upon for significant rebounding and defense against all the great power forwards in the West. Imagine Aldridge vs. Melo. You think Melo is stopping him from torching the Rockets? And if you put Dwight on Aldridge, guess who is backing down Melo for layups? Fukking Robin Lopez.
Also, if Beverley and Canaan are your PGs, good luck competing against the likes of Westbrook, Parker, Conley, Dragic, Lillard and CP3.
Not to mention the god awful defense Melo and Har_en would play together. Imagine how many points Houston would need to beat the Thunder or Spurs ... They wouldn't get consecutive stops all game with those two defensive slack-asses on the court at the same time.
The Rockets need to cut the fat in their payroll by dumping Asik and Lin, and they need to look for great role players to compliment Howard and Har_en. They can build on what they have, regardless of whether Parsons' offer is matched. They don't need to reach for Melo. They need to fill the holes they have at other positions and look for players who actually give a fukk about defending other than Beverley.Last edited by ParlayininHTown; 06-18-14, 09:50 PM.Comment -

remember hearing some shit where Duncan said he has slept with almost as many "people" as Wilt Chamberlain claims.

you have some valid points there H-Town.
I still think it would be a positive upgrade for them
you dont like this starting squad Parlayin?
PG-Beverly
SG- Harden
SF-Parsons
PF-Melo
C-Howard
sure there are holes in it if you dig deep enough,
but how are teams going to guard Harden and Melo 1 on 1 ?
You def cant over commit to double teams because Howard will punish int he paint
or Parsons will hit the open 3. The key is the point guard def.
I like Beverly's toughness and tenacity on the court man. He also hardly turns the ball over at all.
Melo is brilliant at creating his own shots and beating 1 on 1 coverage in space....
hard for me to believe that the addition of Melo would be a bad thing for the Rockets.Comment -

Kershaw had 15 strikeouts tonight
would of been perfect game if Hanley didnt fukk it up with the error
sucks on the under, I assume it was at over/under 7 ?
Rockies (besides the A's) have scored the most runs in baseball so far,
so no hitting them would be a tough task at the moment.Comment -

#26767you nailed it with the defense though Parlayin.
Harden and Melo on court at the same time on the defensive end will be a headache to watch.
Uncalled for that Melo doesnt play better D, since he plays so physical on the offensive side of the ball
he should be the same way on the other end down the court.
As far as Harden, he might play the worst defense in the NBA.

hard for me to believe that the addition of Melo would be a bad thing for the Rockets.
They can't have Melo and Parsons. They didn't pick up Parsons' cheap team option because they wanted to be able to let him walk to free up space for Melo. Of course, if Melo is a no-go, they will likely match another team's offer sheet and re-sign Parsons. But no chance both guys are on the roster next season IMO. I don't see the owner paying through the nose due to the luxury tax.
With or without Parsons, a lineup with Melo as your stretch 4 could be potent. Obviously, they Rockets would be among the toughest teams to stop, but they are already at that point without Melo. Melo would make their half-court offense run more smoothly because he can stretch the floor. Plus, Dwight can post to clear space and then kick it to Melo OR Harden and let either guy go ISO and do his thing late in the shot clock if a hard double comes.
Beverley does a solid job with the assist-to-TO ratio, but he's not a game-changer. The kid is tough as nails and plays his ass off. He also has a great attitude. But he simply lacks the talent to keep up with all of the stars at the point-guard position in the West. Look at the series Damian Lillard had against this guy. Look, Beverley is going to give you his all, but that's not always enough to slow down Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook or Stephen Curry. This is a brutal conference to run through at the present time, and you cannot have the worst starting PG among the eight playoff teams if you plan to have realistic championship aspirations.
I'm not saying Melo would make the Rockets worse, but he's not the answer to their problems. They need a better defensive presence and veteran leadership. They need Harden to care more on defense. They need Jones to continue to develop. I'd rather see them re-sign Parsons and look to improve in their two weakest positions in the starting five, because they are such key positions for matchup purposes during the Western Conference playoffs.Comment -
