JK Simmons favored for critics award. Any chance he wins Oscar? I am loosely tied to this film.

Quoted for truth. Did you guys see the movie Her? She single-handedly carried that movie with her voice alone.

I was going to mention Her. I think Phoenix was just as integral, but it was certainly the best performance I've seen from SJ.

I think I mentioned in my review of Whiplash that his performance was excellent and would probably be the favorite. He'll be the favorite come Oscars time as well, unless he loses some of the other majors.

Having said that. Adding on to Globes plays:
Edward Norton, best supporting actor +600

In what way are you tied to the film? Extra?

You really should watch it. It's a very slow, arty film, and its best to know nothing about it coming in. It is the polar opposite of the film Her. Its haunted me ever since I've seen it.

Great play me thinks. Norton is a Globes darling ever since Primal Fear. Was one of the biggest travesties ever when friggin Cuba Gooding Jnr got an Oscar over him

By the way, finally saw Foxcatcher last night, really dont know what to make of the movie as a whole with the cult-narrative thing and homosexual element, or Carell's performance! Thought Tatum and especially Ruffalo were great though

Yeah, I saw it a few days ago. Was underwhelmed. All of the prosthetics took away from the performances IMO.

Its a brilliant film. everyone should watch atleast once. still thinking about it the next day.

Some scenes were way to long and drawn out though. my only complaint.

Movies I just watched were Night Crawler and The Drop over the weekend... Liked them very much and recommend them both..... The ending in Night Crawler was a bit retarded but the entire movie was well written and the acting was brilliant.. The Drop is just a really good movie to check.. Solid.. Can't help but like the main character in it..

Star Wars, highest Grossing film of 2015 +200 at Cris. Should probably be a pickem between avengers and Star Wars.

Bet it originally at +250, they moved it to -150, and now readjusted to +200.

Keep in mind your funds will be tied up for 18 months.

You've got good taste Jib, those are two of my favorite movies of the year. For the rest of the nose-breathing cinema crowd, I also strongly recommend a movie called "Calvary". Absolutely amazing film.

Love Brendan Gleeson so much, but fell asleep on Calvary. Think it was the night, not the film, though.

Trying to catch up on everything in the next couple days before the Globes on Sunday, and then the Academy Award Announcements.

Saw Big Eyes last night, pretty good, Christoph Waltz was terrific as always. Going to catch Into The Woods and Imitation Game tonight.

Kills me when him and Keaton start fighting and he tries to take Keaton down then they end up on the floor and Norton tries to take his back and sink the hooks in!!!! ''Im gonna choke you out''!!!!
