when to muck when to show
i have been asking myself this question . i muck all the time but the other nite this guy would not play kept folding my min raises .so i showed a bluff and the next couple of hands he started calling and i knocked him out . btw i was just playing the napt shootout on pstars showing my friend how to play on pokerstars. do you show a sick bluff to get them on tilt or when you get the nuts?when is it the best time to show?

I never show, let them think what they want. I generally will respond if they guess and tell them they were right (whether they were right or not).

    Cheers.

i almost always show. 99 percent of people cant read people even though they think they can. the other 1 percent you just change your game. showing or not showing has no effect really but it can piss people off at the table when they see they could of won.

Exactly.... Showing is information. I do not want to give out any information that don't have to.

                Cheers,

There have only been a few times when I haven't been BS'ing around where showing would have actually helped. It's tempting to show that brilliant play you just made, but it's really just giving away information and allowing good players to get a read on you.

I will show once in awhile when I bluff because it will play mind games with the other players. When in reality I don't bluff all that often.

mix it up. show a bluff once in a while. show that you had a strong hand once in a while. let them know you are capable of going wither way.

I feel you never do it or you always do it. One or the other, because you are only screwing yourself when you pick and choose.

I agree with your basic point but I would clarify to say that you are potentially screwing yourself as you do not know how the opponents (i.e. the whole table) will interpret or react to this information in the future. The whole table sees your cards but they will not all/always interpret nor act in future in your desired manor. Therefore showing some hands is mostly an overall -EV option in my humble opinion.

Also, always showing is not an option as it just gives every hand away, you need to keep them guessing at least some of the hands.... :-)

                                      Cheers.

I saw on 2P2 that one of the HUNL players Durrr played made it a requirement they both showed every hand. Good lesson for the guy I'm sure. The stake were 10K/20K HKD.

Well most people you come across online poker are not paying attention too often so showing won't affect you too much. In live poker it may be wise to never show.
