You and Big Orange don't get to make rules for SBR Poker. If the minimum buy in for a table is 40, then anyone with 40 points can buy in to that table. If you don't like it then too bad for you. Other people have poker points they have to roll over, and maybe it's just 40 or 50 points, so obviously they can't buy in for more than that if they want to roll over the points.

Interesting discussion. First off, I agree people can buyin for whatever they want, you might not like short stackers and such, but particularly if it's a fairly full table, no real issue with that. And people do have rollovers to clear - so if they need to do that, can't blame them for that mostly. I've had 15-20 point rollovers which forced me to buyin short even to the low tables - again no real choice in those circumstances!

One thing which I don't understand BigO/Bigblue - if you were both playing with 800-900, and he was buying in for 50, why didn't you just both pack up and move to the $5/$10 or $10/$20 table where min buyin is 200/400? Then no such problem.

While I said above that I think if the table is reasonably full, absolutely nothing wrong with buying in with whatever amount you want, in general I do agree it's considered bad etiquette to disrupt a heads up game between two players who say they want to play only against each other/only play deep stacked. Obviously that's only my opinion, it's perfectly legal to still do it, but if I entered a table and the two folks told me that they wanted to play heads up vs each other (whether I was buying in short or big), I would respect that and leave - again I think that's just the proper etiquette.

Why should we have to switch tables? It's bad etiquette to sit short stacked against too very deep stacks. We mentioned it to him but he was unwilling to buy in with more than 25 BB's. I know most of you aren't Poker players other than playing in the SBR room, so you don't understand this.

If he wanted to buy-in $50, he should have sat at the .25/.50 table and waited for another person with a small rollover to join.

usually, small stack snipers who step into big heads up battles get busted within 5-6 hands they enter, ground up like the nasty meat cuts that wind up in a johnsonville brat.... they rarely impact the overall game.....

Because they live to build up a big stack at the table. Their M O is to do whatever it takes when they first buy in to get a huge stack that they can then bully even max buy in players with. When you min buy in it neutralizes that strategy and that's why they get butthurt about it.

BTW I min bought for 40 and bigblue turned it into over 1000 for me so sorry if I'm not going to play how you want me to blue and orange
