#40Only a few hands that I can think of where I would have played differently:
1) One is the 33 hand I referenced above. Not being results-oriented. Just think that was my best chance to double- or triple-up vs multiple opponents. A clear fold heads-up. But enough implied odds vs two opponents, I think.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

#412) One other hand that I feel like I mis-played in New Hampshire:
* I open w/ JT(clubs) in mid-pos. Get called by BB. Flop is good, 892 w/ one club.
So, I am up+down w/ two overs and backdoor flush draw. I bet > 1/2pot and get called.
Turn is another good card. 2(clubs), which gives me a flush draw and more outs. I am now drawing to virtually half the deck. 9 flush outs, 6 straight outs, and 6 outs to top pair.
I bet 1/2 pot. I'm not giving him credit for a deuce. He ponders and calls.
River is a King. He's called twice. It's quite the story to tell, if I'm saying that the King made my hand. I give up on the hand. I check and he wins w/ QJ.
In reviewing the hand, I think I mis-played Turn/River. On the Turn, I was scared that I would be bloating the pot if he held a Deuce. In retrospect, the club was too good a card to slow-down. At that point, he had a gutshot and Two Overs. If I held a big overpair, he would be drawing to four outs. Just feel like a bet closer to Pot-size would have gotten him to lay it down.
On river, I feel like my check is too weak. Even a modest 1/3-pot bet that looks like a value-bet would have gotten the job done. He definitely thought he was beaten at showdown.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

#45I've watched many of the Borgata tournaments. I have to say that I'm not overwhelmed by the level of competition. Seems like mostly regular guys.
For sure, it helps to profile a player. Some of the aggro players go crazy on the bluffs. Plenty of video on Youtube, w/ pretty decent commentary.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

#50Thx, Opti/Mpas. Gonna try. I don't claim to know anything more than the average guy.
I have mentioned a few times that I much prefer 6max to full-ring. EZ to get in trouble in Early Position on full-ring. And the action moves a good bit faster on 6max.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

#56Bump, since Josh posted some Poker content.
This was fun while it lasted (back then). Not sure it's very instructive now. Poker strategy is always changing. There's a saying that the poker books are outdated by the time they go to print.
Just a few notes:
1) Does anyone play live Poker tournaments now to a level where they can consistently turn a profit? Say +10% over buy-in (after the rake and any tips)?
2) More of the cheating scandals in the L12 months:
a) Everyone knows about Postle. Complete travesty.
b) Robbi vs Garrett. I hope Robbi's silicone bursts.
c) Martin Kabrehl. Dan Smith and Negreanu are calling this guy out. This prick has been charged w/ marging cards by making indentations and smearing a liquid on cards.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

#57One other Poker Tournament tip, while I'm thinking about it:
*When you get down to Final Table, be very RELUCTANT to chop.
1) If you feel like you have a skill edge, why chop?
2) If someone asks you to chop, THEY just conceded a portion of their pro-rata. Only agree to YOUR terms. My standard reply is "I'll take SECOND PLACE MONEY (even if I'm in fifth place)."
3) You'll sometimes get asked to take a uniform chop. That NEVER works out, b/c someone is always on the big-stack versus short-stack. Fair payouts actually take a while to calculate, if you want to do it properly.
Unless it's life-changing money (like a big WSOP event), you're there to gamble. Do your best and concentrate on playing optimally. Don't chop unless it's to your advantage.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment
