Both football contests are watered down with broke dikk non pros, who shouldn't even be allowed to participate. Which should give non pros incentive to turn pro. Isn't the idea to get more pro memberships?

Makes no sense catering to these non pros who can't use their pts, by taking away poker contest just to add a second football contest.

Strange..not a peep....Sbr poker was really hitting it's stride with all the participation and contests. To abandoned it during the entire NFL season seems like such a backwards things to do. Sammy is mute at this point. All we'd like is an update and honesty

Reading the signs Poker might be done here at SBR. Zero promotion or even a response. BTP was awesome last year but they added a second one and the returns suck. My gut feeling is Poker is done for. They'll probably keep the dailies up simply because you have to clear to get any points. The dailies are flooded with a lot of non-pros so there are many points they never have to pay out. Not much of a loss to them.

Why would SBR NOT run another football contest instead of a poker one? Getting people to go pro (and more importantly, deposit with affiliated books) is a viable revenue stream and a sensible business model; giving away poker points for negligible returns isn't a particularly good business model. Everyone complains about non-pros, but if these things didn't attract new people to the site, they'd have a lot less reason to run them with decent prizes.

Poker here isn't "done for"...as long as they're running dailies, people will play (dailies have more value than any contest they've ever run anyways). Again, the non-pros playing in them help SBR to have a reason to do them. If you're playing for fun, it shouldn't matter all that much anyways...if you're playing for the cash value, you're doing it wrong (with the possible exception of one or two people for whom betpoints are the main source of income).

I get that. I play at Bovada, ignition, various other soft gambling/poker sites, it's not for money.

It's just "fun" to compete for a position in a tourney, for a team, etc x have a goal. I multiple tabled poker for years in the glory days. I'm a much better cash game player, plus tourneys involve so much more variance anyway... I'll admit though, they are more exciting because of the working your way towards first, then the final table.

I'm just not motivated at all to play without a contest. You're right about the revenue stream, the non pros. Just with the trivia and BTP alone it way more than covers becoming a pro, at least for me.

Lot of people play the daily tourneys, so there is no need for another poker contest, the final of which is a crapshoot.

I hear ya...been playing cash games regularly last few months for my poker fix. Makes it harder to care about SBR poker!

People looking for a competition can always set one up on their own without SBRs help...the fact is that most people aren't interested in competing unless SBR is throwing free prizes out. Just the way it has been, is and probably will always be; not enough guys here even semi-serious enough to care about such things.
