#3I have a feeling come football season, in just a few weeks, we might see something new. If not, so be it, the dailies themselves aren't bad and having two amazing football contests - can't complain about that!Comment -

#4Poker has been put on the back burner for awhile now. It's never taken this long for a new poker promo to be announced, so we can assume they're gone for good. In addition, all poker related badges have stopped: 2017 Angelman, 2017 World Cup, cashes from dailies.
Doesn't make any sense to add a second football promo & take away the poker promos.Comment -

#7Football coming up. Fantasy football is very popular. Those have drafts. How about the top 60 in the standings all go into a pool and the top 5 scorers draft the remaining 55 for a week of 5 handed tournaments. 4 points for 1st, 3 for 2nd, 2 for 3rd, 1 for 4th, 0 for 5th.
Probably not.Comment -

Have to agree 100% with downsouth here. I mean Beat the Prick often has 1000+ people participating at the beginning, while poker has maybe 100 or so regulars. No question, another such football contest is far more likely than poker to bring in more memberships to SBR, more pros, and more depositing in sportsbooks via SBR links.
And "fair", well let's be objective here. If SBR closed down the entire point system tomorrow, that would be 100% within their rights, and "fairness" aside we'd have to live with it. SBR owes us nothing, and while I certainly have no problem with people giving constructive criticism to what they do, them adding another amazing football contest, really surprised that could be met with a complaint of any kind.
I may be in the minority on this, but I very much prefer having a second great football contest compared to some poker promotion for a whole list of reasons. First off, what I wrote above in regards to being better for the site. Also, both offer great prizes but realistically the football contests require much less of a time commitment (can make your picks in any given week in 30 seconds compared to playing 60-90 minute poker tourneys every day!) and are far more fun to follow and so forth. Plus while I enjoy the dailies and will continue to play them since they are very generous, when there is a contest going on (the World Cup is a clear example), it was semi-necessary to compete in a tournament every day if you wanted to give yourself a good chance to qualify (at least for US players for sure). Now, with no contest, don't have to feel badly about missing a daily here or there as I have each of the last few weeks.
It could well be worse for my bottom line to have the second football contest compared to a poker promotion since I have done well in past some of their poker promotions (been a few years since I hit anything big, but I still have fond memories!) while I have never done especially well in Beat the Prick. But even if it's potentially worse for me, I still prefer and think if it's a choice between a poker promotion and adding this second great football contest that doing the latter is better for all the reasons mentioned.Comment -

The poker promos are the equivalent to if BTP took the top 100 of the first 16 weeks then told them those were out the window and the final week is all that mattered. Oh and the top 25 from each region only get in, so you could be #27 overall and miss out but because someone lives in India they can be #700 and get in.Comment -

#19as long as they continue to roll out the daily's....I have no problem without a promotion.
i'd rather go with no promotions, but bring in some special weekend tournaments throughout the football season. and lets not forget the sunday "rebuy" tournament. used to enjoy playing that on sunday while watching the games. unfortunately it went away last season (along with the saturday beat the prick poker tournament).Comment -

#20FWIW, I've never been a fan of the 100 person bingo and the world cup. The other football contest is good with me.
It just feels like the competitive aspect is gone for these poker tournaments, which is what I liked the most, playing towards the end goal.Comment -

Let's look at the facts:
There's already a BTP contest, no need for another similar contest.
Poker is already dead, so how is taking away poker contests going to remedy that?
No poker contest announced, or poker communication of any kind for over a month.
No Saturday high roller tourney.
No Sunday re-buy tourney.
No poker badges of any kind: dailies, World Cup, Angelman
At this rate, it's just a matter of time before the dailies are gone.Comment -

Really don't understand lot of this logic.
"There's already a BTP contest, no need for another similar contest." - Beat the Prick is by far the most generous promotion SBR runs, and now they are being doubly generous in running two of them essentially, giving posters double the chance to win a very nice prize, and you imply that this is a bad thing??
"Poker is already dead, so how is taking away poker contests going to remedy that?" If poker is dead as you say, why should SBR continue to run promotions for it? Obviously their main goal is to draw more people to the site and so forth, and if it's dead as you say, not accomplishing what they want it to, then why would they keep it around?
Don't get me wrong, I'd be sad if dailies went away, but if SBR decides it's not in their business interest to do them, well that's entirely understandable. If they think something else (e.g. another football contest) will be better for their bottom line, how can you blame them for doing that?Comment -

#23Of course NFL and NCAAF are 1000 times more popular than poker so SBR is doing the logical thing.
Online poker will not draw more people to the site, so the daily tourneys are all that's needed. Just be happy that SBR continues to offer it.Comment -

#25Then I'll explain further to help you understand.
"There's already a BTP contest, no need for another similar contest." - Beat the Prick is by far the most generous promotion SBR runs, and now they are being doubly generous in running two of them essentially, giving posters double the chance to win a very nice prize, and you imply that this is a bad thing??
If the added football promo is in addition to poker contests, then that would be generous & gr8. If the exchange for this additional football promo is no more poker contests, then it's obviously a bad thing for anyone who likes poker.
Poker is more dead without the contests, are you really going to try & argue that point?
If they think something else (e.g. another football contest) will be better for their bottom line, how can you blame them for doing that?

#27Well bobby, you can continue to twist things as you see fit, I know you like to do that. However, it seems pretty clear from others' statements on this post that not a single other person who has chimed in agrees with you, but obviously you are entitled to your own opinion.
Very simply again, as someone who does like poker and has done all the poker promotions in recent years, given the choice between a second football contest of Beat the Prick/Beat the Bag style vs having a poker promotion, I would choose the former for sure (and it seems others agree with me as they have posted). BTP/BTB have just as good (if not better) rewards than poker and require far less of a time commitment so if I had to choose between them it would really be a no brainer to me.
More dead vs dead - who cares? Point is if 1% of SBR's population (speculatively, no idea what the actual # is) participate in poker regularly, it clearly makes very little difference to their bottom line to change/remove something which doesn't affect 99% of their members, instead adding something which a far greater % of their members will embrace. And add to that, of that 1% or whatever it is who play poker, those like myself and others who have chimed in above still would opt for the latter choice. Thus, do you really think the 0.1% (you might be the only one lol) who might prefer a poker promotion to beat the bag given the choice should be catered to when 99.9% prefer it the other way??Comment -

Fact remains, there's already a BTP promo. No need to add a similar promo, if it means removing all of the poker promos in exchange. Since there's no communication regarding poker promos, no way to know their intentions.
My entertainment value on this site comes from slow rolling chumps on the green felt & playing the poker promos. Not from making 5 football picks, which I can easily do at the sportsbook & win a hell of a lot more than what the football promo pays.Comment -
