#107Lol that was a sick set up wasn't it? I just had such a good read on the guy that it was a crying call, and his comment was because he's a nice guy with money and didn't even want my money actually, in my opinion - but he couldn't just go out and say "I have it" lol.
I came down a little in October but still did well. Considering that I play 50+ hours a wee it's not that much money. I'm always looking to improve my results. One thing I can tell you that has worked for me is to pick a casino with good "high hand" specials, for instance one that I like a lot has instant payouts for quads or better and $300/$500 for best hand for a half hour in addition during certain periods. I find that these kinds of payouts happen to me a good amount given how often I play and my style. May places offer a huge "Bad Beat" payout, say $50,000 or more if say a straight flush beats another straight flush. Of course these are awesome and could be life changing if you hit them but I'm hitting the other ones with such frequency that I chase them.
No online for now as it's been illegal where I live but they just actually legalized it so I'll be looking at what the climate is like for it and will go from there.
Alright man, looking forward to your next update - run goot man.Comment -

#108October Report
Poker: $254
Hours Played: 28
Sports YTD: $348
Well the month definitely did not go as planned. I lost some money, but the main issue is obviously volume. I had a lot of school work to do and just could not get the hours in that were needed. I need to hit at least 100 hours this month. So far I am playing some 50NL on PokerStars, PartyPoker and SkyPoker. Going to tryout some Microgaming network and even some Global/Bovada. Hopefully we can do better this month! Going to really try and pick me game up now. I want to be playing 100NL regularly by the end of the year. That means I need to get a strong 50NL sample on these tougher sites that show I'm winning and have the bankroll to play 100NL where I can really make some serious cash.Comment -

#109I'm also going to create a prop for myself moving forward so that I can 1) Progress to where I need to be at poker, 2) Motivate myself, 3) Keep track of it all.
-Watch 2 Poker videos each day
-Go over biggest losing hands immediately after a session(assuming I can in PT4, some sites are untracked)
-Run 5 hands hands through equilab/flopzilla everyday
-Play 25 hours a week
-Meditate 10 minutes a day
-Workout 5 times a weekComment -

Terrible start to the month. Currently on a $900 downswing since last month as well. However, this stuff happens and is nothing out of the ordinary for 50-100NL. I have very confident I'll win it all back this month, but need to increase volume to do so. Some of the beats have been pretty crazy, villains at the top of their extremely wide range, but hey if the fish never win hands then they would never play poker right? So I just look at it as I'm taking one for the team (the regs) just so the fish think they can win and keep coming back. BTW I'm also thinking about starting to stream. Would be cool to have some of you in the chat. Talk some sports even...Comment -

Sick fold the other day Baller, pocket 8's, board comes rainbow 789 rainbow
guy in 1st position bets out $10, one caller, I repop to $40 and original raiser raises to $140
This was at 1/3 with another $460 in front of me
I've played the guy before and know he's very solid, and has a very solid impression of me - enough to know that I have something big there
Tanked and reluctantly folded, he showed me 10j.
Later that session I turned quad Kings for a $674 bonus, reiterating my point that high hand bonuses add up when picking live venues. You won't find them online, though you'll almost never find rakeback live.

The way you wrote it he had bigger stack so unless he somehow doesnt put at least 1 bet or 1 call in when board pairs you have the odds and pot can be over 1k$.
And strange way he played did he donk or cbet 10$ which seems small for 1/3 unless somehow is limped pot which i highly doubt. Either way he should only call the raise the way he played i my opinion since no FD and big chance middle players calls again.Comment -

#121Hey guys time for a new update
Monthly Profit: Around $600
Sports: $652
So month is not going as planned. I have not put in enough volume, but I also haven't had much success. I've been mainly focused on school so far as all these projects, exams are happening. I have created a plan in place to progress where I want to be and move ahead with measurable goals. Basically even though I am down a bit this month, and I was down last month I am still up over $4k in poker winnings since August. Now I foolishly went on a spending spree and nearly spent all of this. Lesson Learned. Now although I did hit a downswing 1) It is only about a 15 buyin downswing, which is extremely common 2) I only played about 10-15k hands in this downswing so it really shouldn't have dragged on over this time period. 10k-15k hands should be played in less than a week and then I could move on. Basically playing with my own money on the line losing hundred dollar pots over and over made my mental game weak and so I played more tilted and I also didn't get the urge to play as much because I didn't want to lose anymore money. Anyway I've create a new gameplan moving forward with clear measurable goals and benchmarks in place.
I'll post it in the next post.Comment -

#122Hey guys,
My goal is to hit 200NL by the end of May. I've been playing poker for 1.5 years now. I started at 2NL in May 2016 and have progressed to where I am now playing 50NL as my main game. I am very confident in being a winner in the 50NL pool, and I think I could hold my own at 100NL. I think with the right plan in place, 200NL is a definite achievable stake. Now when I say 200NL, I mean that I have proven that I am a winner at 100NL and I am ready to start shotting 200NL. I am usually aggressive with shots, but I have a backer who will probably dictate these to some extent.
There are a few reasons for this goal.
1) By the end of May I will have finished my undergrad and will be able to play "professionally" with no limitations.
2) I do not want to have to go get a job in an office somewhere and do work I'm not passionate about.
3) 200NL you can actually start to make a lot of cash which will lead to freedom and ability to start business/investments.
4) I want to travel when/where/whenever I want.
I will be blogging here to hold myself accountable and to set a high goal, but reachable goal.
Plan
The plan is to start out at 50NL where I am now. I will play PS, PP, Sky, Global Poker, Ignition, but my main focus at least for now is on MPN. It will be hard to post graphs/hands from here, but I'll do my best to at least keep things updated whenever I play. I am also backed at the moment and keep 80% of my winnings. I plan to hit 100NL by January, and then be shotting 200NL by end of May.
1) Play 10,000 hands minimum each week (preferably a lot more)
2) Study 5 hours each week
3) Get coaching once every fortnight
4) Journal here every day I play poker
Anyway that's it for now, please follow along and don't be afraid to comment/post!Comment -

#124Hey Slik, basically we split everything. Now most backing deals involve a 50/50 split usually with coaching included. I'm not getting coaching from this guy, he just gives me a bankroll. But yea deal is really good haha. I think backing is the way to go because he will have no problem moving me up stakes as long as I am doing well. Both our goals are just to make maximum money. If I lose I'm in markup, so I play until all the money lost is cleared up while he keeps giving me a bankroll. If let's say I'm down $1000 and he decides that I might keep losing more and he doesn't want to risk it, he can just end the deal and I won't owe anything.Comment -

#125Day 1 Recap
So first day was productive. I ended up doing 2 hour of study listening to mainly mental game videos. I also played a few hands and made about $70 altogether last night. On one of my very first hands I got insanely coolered vs a fish who called my 3bet oop with A3o vs my KK and rivered a straight. I was a bit tilted and angry, but I had been listening to the mental game videos during the day and it really helped me put into perspective the situation. 1) We want the fish to make these kinds of plays. Even though he got my stack this time, over a big sample if we play this hand out he loses an insane amount. 2) If fish didn't win these pots some of the time, then they wouldn't play poker and we wouldn't have any bad players in the game to take money from. 3) We also suckout at times where we were greatly behind, but we are still not ok with it. Apparently a study was conducted in some kind of area, but I'll relate it to poker. It takes humans 3 winning sessions to not care about a losing session afterwards. Whereas we aren't even happy with a 2:1 ration or 1.5:1. It's funny.
Anyway, I owe it to a strong mental game last night which allowed me to stay calm and keep playing my A game. I made some very good folds where I know I would have called/spewed with tilt.Comment -

* Sounds like the Early Position pre-flop guy bet the $10.
If that's correct, then you have to consider Ranges. If he's opening from Early Position, that changes the Ranges dramatically. He USUALLY can't be opening w/ JT (off-suit). Too weak.
We can only give him credit for JT (suited) there. 4 combos.
The one other hand that has u crushed is 99. Only 3 combos.
That's 7 combos that have u crushed. Really not very many.
How likely is he to bet like that w/ an Overpair? The hand that he surely loves is TT. Overpair + up/down.
Even JJ is quite strong there. Overpair w/ a gutshot.
Just my two-cents. You're now beating an Overpair. I couldn't lay down 88. I have to call one more time.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -

Sure he could be thinking it's easy to run me over unless I have the nuts and making a play as a result, but the fact that he told me it was a nice lay down afterwards was big - he and I are cool and he has no reason to disrespect or lie to me.
I appreciate your input though, as always.
Good stuff Baller - keep it coming.
FYI I saw NON PRO Sweep try to buy in the 1/2 game at Sugarhouse with $8 and throw a fit when they told him the minimum was $60. He then tried to take pics of someone's hand next to their chips to pretend they were his and he had to be escorted out.Comment -

It's crazy how bad some of the opponents I'm up against are. I mean you would think that I would easily be crushing these guys, and I know I am, but we're going to hit these little swings. Just need to play more volume. Going to put a lot of volume in this week, so I think I'll be able to turn things around...
