i went to play 1/3 at the casino yesterday and i got seated at a table with one monster stack (around 2k). a seat opened up on his left as i was waiting for the big blind and i gleefully took it. after a while, i noticed that he was raising a lot of pots preflop (nothing ridiculous, just normal live game type raises, with a very wide range of hands) but he was fairly passive postflop unless he had a hand.

#2Those stacks are easy to double up against.
The easiest way to just call him preflop, flop and then raise on the turn and river.
If he raises to 20 preflop and everyone else folds and you have pocket queens, kings or aces, then just call him. When you hit sets, just check to himComment -

#3he was easily the best player at the table, i shouldnt have said he never bluffed, more like all of his big bets he got called on he had something, im sure there was some small bluffs in there.
one thing he did a lot that i found very weird is jack it up from the small blind after the other players had limped in, it wasnt like players were limping for 3 and folding for 15 more.Comment -

#4Adjust to his raising range and Start 3betting him preflop for starters and see how he reacts to that. If hes still being passive you can print money vs those guys.Comment -

#6good answer dane exactly what i did.
nothing really came out of it in the end, he beat me a few hands i beat him a few hands.
one hand i paid off his 80 dollar river bet after i 3 bet him with aq and he had k5 on jj5kq board (checked to river).
most of the time he check folded to me, even if i checked the flop back and bet the turn, picking up some nice pots over and over against him. i never really 3 bet him with garbage worst hand i think i did it with was kj suited.Comment -

he made some big calls when other guys were trying to bluff him so i didnt want to get into too much of a heads up battle against him when the rest of the table was fairly soft.
after a while some other guy who the deck was running over got to around 2000 himself (from around 5 when i sat down) and he would start cold calling some of my 3 bets with mediocre hands and i was getting into 3 way pots with a lot of money in preflop (2nd to act most of the time), so i was being a bit more selective, also i was getting pretty much garbage after the first hour or so of playing, so that slowed me down as well.
ended up winning a little over 400 on the session without really picking up any big hands aside from a boat with 44 on a 466 board against a short stack with a6.Comment -
