Hi guys, I'm new here to the site! I may dabble around in the poker aspect of it on a boring day, but I'm here for the sports betting. However, I see there is a lot of poker action going on so if anyone has any questions regarding poker, tournaments, life of a pro, feel free to ask me here and I'll do my best to answer them. I played poker for my only source of income for the last ten years and traveled around and played tourneys all over the world for the last 7. Have played millions of hands both online and live.

At times online I would play 20 tables at once, but on average for the first few years 4-6, and in the later years before most of the big sites got shut down in the U.S. I would play 10-12 tables at once. As far as live goes, you could be correct it may not be as many hands, was just making a simple finishing statement, but it quite possibly could be a million + idk no way of adding it up lol. was my online stats for pokerstars

I kinda wanna know where I go wrong online too.....I bought in 50$ and ran it to 4,500....but I could never seem to get over the "hump" into bigger $.....am I only good at beating bad players??
My main games were PLO heads up... and 6 man sit n go's....always have been "tournament" oriented player but now Im playing cash live....Comment -

lol - everyone seems to have an opinion on things they know nothing about. Profitable Sit N Go players online play mind-numbing amounts of tables due to the fact that it is nearly auto-decision making in those things. They can make incredible profits by grinding out huge numbers of tables. This may not be the way you make money, but it is certainly a legit way to make money at poker.Comment -

Ok guys I have posted before hands I have played and went over as to why and I will get back into doing that here as well in the near future. Anyone that wants to post a hand here for my analysis feel free to do so and I'll get to it when I check it out. As far as the person that said don't sports bet, great advice because I have lost a lot in sports betting of poker profits, but I love it and since I won't stop, I might as well try n learn how to become good at it.
How I got started, I went to the casino at 18 to gamble with friends, lost twice on black jack and hated it, saw people having fun playing a game so I watched and was like I want to do that next time, they look like they are having fun. Found out it was poker, watched how they bet for a couple hrs, then tried and won $100 my first time. I then went back a few times to lose everytime. Went off to college, read tips on any site to try n learn poker, which then i found a link for pokerstars. Started playing free money, then tried real money with my college money lol. Someone sent me a file of "SuperSystems" (great book!). I then was convinced it was possible to win in poker and started buying and reading any book I could, I have read over 27 poker books. That summer I was working a minimum wage job and going to the casino to play $3-6 holdem. I then won on average $80-100 a day, and decided to quit my job that was paying me less. After the summer I went and tried online. For 3 years I bounced back and forth between $11-50 sit and goes before I finally could win consistently and big enough to play higher. After 3 years and probably $4000-5000 investment I was able to make 6 figures a year. I spent a few years playing only sit and goes, most years playing no limit cash, and a couple years playing tournaments. I feel that cash games are the most profitable, sit and goes can be very profitable, but not as much skill in them and usually they get close to only pros i them at the $200 + level. Tournaments are the gamble of the poker world, probably the most fun, and require a ton of skill to win at a high level. A great player can have losing months playing tournaments only, whereas cash it's pretty hard to do so. I would suggest to anyone that wants to play to play a lot of cash games and sit and goes, with the occasional tournaments.
To the guy that was thinking of quitting his job, I would not if I were you. Poker is even better if you don't have to worry or depend on the money. Also, you need to try it and be sure you can win consistently before you quit, as I said I stayed at it for 3 years until I was able to make enough to not worry about having a job. You will want to be playing at least 2-5 NL or 15-30 limit if you consider playing it for a living. Also, once you get great at poker, the hard part isn't playing good or winning, but avoiding "leaks". For me I won a lot of money in poker, but blew a lot of money gambling on other stuff, drinking, partying. You must avoid these and be a good money manager. In a book i read they said a C+ player with A+ money management will make more than an A+ player with C- money management and this is SO TRUE.Comment -
The poker lifestyle gets old quick and if you have to be playing in a casino, after a while I hated it. I love being able to play online poker for a living, with the occasional travel for big tournaments, but once they shut down the major sites here in the US, it became less profitable. When the government allows the big sites and allows players to use their ************, it will create a lot more bad players online and again will be a very profitable game. A few sides notes for me, the highest stakes I have played was $20-$40 NL live which I bought in $10,000 and lost. $50-100 NL online buyin 10k. But I spent most of my beginning years on games for 1-2 , 2-4 nl. and $200 sit and goes. And my later years on 5-10, 10-20 NL and $200-500 sit and goes, $1000 heads up sngs. Currently I play $2-4 and $5-10 nl online and I am only playing poker 2-3 days a week. Most I've lost in a day $55,000, most I've won in a day $85,000 (tournament) $23,000 ( cash games ). Biggest month + $330,000, worst month -$135,000. Average months +10,000-20,000. For anyone that wants to get into poker and take it seriously read any books you can, and watch the best online players videos. Currently I watch videos on runitonce.com which has the best players and teachers. Oh and I wont be playing many if any tourneys on sbr, so I wont be stealing your pts or whatever I'll most likely just be chatting here about poker.
