I like Tennessee -7... Don't feel comfortable taking the OU 46.. Any thought?

#2UCLA not only has this Craft kid who is brand new and is being forced into Norm Chow's complicated system, they also have a very suspect O-line. Tennessee's D-Line is pretty solid and they should be able to put a lot of pressure on the kid which will turn into fumbles and interceptions.
UCLA should still have a solid defense against an inexperienced QB at Tennessee but Tenn is well rounded enough and should do fine on the ground and have good field position all game.
I'd give the Tennessee -7 and UNDER 46 a really good look... but there are lots of intangibles in this game that only playing the game tomorrow will clear up.

#6Also, this fact is important to understand in the world of NCAA sports. The high school graduating class of 2008 is the biggest America has seen in years. I don't know for how long, but probably the largest in an entire generation. There are so many freshman running around on college campuses, and there are many on Division I teams. UCLA admitted 12,600 freshman this year, and nearly 4,900 are attending. According to the LA Times, UCLA could START as many as a dozen freshman this season. There's no doubt these freshman have potential or that UCLA will be good, but they should expect a rocky start.

#8If this game were being played week 8, I'd give UCLA a look, as they will have some experience with the system and a chance to gel. Asking them to keep it close against Tennessee in week 1 really isn't fair in my opinion.Comment -

#9USC is way off base on this... and inexperience Junior is starting at QB this year for Tenn... he's had 3 years in the system..how are you inexperienced?
Line average 4 sacks last year for Tenn... 4 sacks... Best returning O line in college football possibly. They have two playmakers with NFL potential. UCLA is learning a new system inexperience and is mediocre at best.
Tenn rolls in this one. I can't believe the line is at -7 to be honest.Comment -

#10Yeah I think the Vols post a double digit win. UCLA has too many injuries & new bodies for an opener against a good team.Comment -

#11Yes he's been in the system, but I didn't realize that throwing 78 passes over the last 2 years (and only 12 last year) = Experience?
I think he will do just fine but I don't believe I'm way off base saying a guy with 2 starts under his belt is inexperienced.Comment -

#19What is the SEC's recent record (I know there are only a few examples) travelling out of conference in the regular season especially on the west coast. I don't remember it being too good. Now more than a touchdown favorite?? They are gonna have to be MUCH the better team...Comment -

#28Durito,
They've been at 7.5 all day for me. I used IE (use Firefox when logged in) to check the square line they were offering and it was 8 -110 but is now back to 7.5 -105 so SBR Odds must be on a delay.Comment -

#32will someone please tell me how a Junior that is now taking over as starting QB after red-shirting a year and playing another 2 as a backup is inexperience... There is cause for concern if its a redshirt freshmen or something and he's looked terrible in spring/practice and scrimmages... but thats not the case here.
get in at -7 while you still can.Comment -

He will definitely know the system.
But if you measure experience in GAMES STARTED and in PASSES THROWN, 2 games started and 78 passes attempted over a career isn't very experienced.Comment -
