Nothing wrong with it. I enjoy it. Play with water in cups instead and have beer in cans. Solves all your grungy icky poo phobias.

Dowhatnow? I never played this way before in my younger years. When they said "beirut" they meant you have to bounce it off the table in the cup vs straight shooting it. I never heard of a frickin paddle.

The delineation has blurred over time but it's: beer pong, with paddles. Beirut, no paddles.

I belonged to a frat that had its own stringent rules about beer pong. All lob, two cups per side, throws were incorporated once a ball went into a cup. Many, many drunken hours spent playing.

Beirut was summertime with kids from home. 6 or 10 cups in a triangle, remove & drink per hit.

This shit had its time and place. Can't believe a 30 year old would play, 25 is too old in my opinion.

"Asshole" was a high school game, with decks of cards and a president, a VP and rule making. Quarters was a fun game (bounce quarters into glasses of beer) and "Mexicans" was a dice game, forget the rules.

Life today is a money grind, no time for bullshit drinking games. Having $100 on the Jets on Sunday was more than enough excitement. I'd say having the Eagles was exciting too, except the score was already 14-0 when i turned the game on.

they actually have a World Series of Beer Pong tournament in Vegas. That is crazy qualifying tournaments around the U.S. as well

ive been in contact with beer pong for over 10 years on OSU campus, never used paddles, seen it or heard of it.

Yeah well I was a freshman in 1990 and beer pong (with paddles) was well established before I got there. So was Beirut (no paddles).

It shouldn't be too hard to believe that a game born on a ping pong table with the name "pong" in it and played with ping pong balls once employed a paddle.

Some drunks somewhere probably lost their paddles (or more likely destroyed, which happened all the time when guys got pissed...whipped at walls usually - so funny to think about what used to matter) and didn't bother replacing or renaming the new game.

Thing is, there were guys who were marksmen with the paddle who were nearly impossible to beat - but eventually even they would get drunk and be primed for an upset.

i once one a 64-team tourney and got the most epic homemade trophy ever.

we were so wasted we left it at a local pizza shop afterwards.
