It's the Royals... They lost 19 in a row in 2005

Good digging there, rake, and belated congrats on the poker last night.

Thought for sure the longest since 2000 would've been turned in by those gosh-awful Tigers in 2003.

Longest losing streak in the 'modern era' is 23 by the 1961 Phillies.

Longest winning streak is one that always causes some controversy. The 1916 New York Giants went 26-0-1 during one stretch (with the tie a game called because of darkness somewhere around the time they had won 17 or 18 straight). The 1935 Cubs won 21 straight for what I regard as the true win streak mark.

Not to highjack the thread, but the 1916 Giants that WillieBee mentions also had a 17 game winning streak during that very same season to go along with their 26 wins in a row.....

And somehow they still managed to finish only as high as 4th in the National League, 7 games out. I've always found that to be one of the more bizarre happenings in MLB history.....

The fact that you know this is a little creepy. Kudos.

Yeah, the 17-game streak gets lost in the other one. And when you tell people the 26-game stretch, 27 if you count the tie, came all at home, their first thought is that's the only reason the streak was so long. But then you tell them that the 17-game streak all came on the road, and that changes things.

Don't think it's creepy at all when people know this sort of stuff

Penguins have a lot of time on their hands, flippers whatever during the NHL off-season.....
