Rounders? You must be joking. Rounders isn't even in the top 25. It was a mediocre movie with a lot of fun moments, a few classic lines ("in the poker game of life, women are the fcking rake") and goofy, likeable characters portrayed by some good actors, but the plot was ridiculous, the director was 2cnd rate, and the list of unrealistic scenarios (especially where Mike somehow cashes a personal check for 10k in the middle of the night after a laughable yashiva speech from Martin Landau's character)is endless.

It was even worse for those of us who play cards at a high level, watching a laughable scene where Chan folds after a 2 handed 4 bet in a limit game, or the final showdown where Teddy raises to 5k, then folds to a capped 15k pot for 5k more. (even though he's supposed to be top russian outfit leader).

Hey, I like Rounders. It's a fun movie. And as far as significance, no movie has ever had an impact in the gambling world that Rounders had, it practically made online poker a way of life for tens of thousands of people. But it is definitely not a great movie, and can never be mentioned in the same breath as The Hustler, California Split, The Gambler, The Cincinnati Kid, Owning Mahoney, or even forgotten older films like The Great Sinner starring Gregory Peck.
