JJ I was calling around today to pay per head shops trying to do some shopping.
About 3 hours latter I get a "wrong number" phone call from a Vegas phone.
WTF is up with that?
Feds?
I am serious.
It was odd.
I'll wait for your reply.

Interesting...wonder what this means to poker there. Do you have to play at the Intralot rooms...what does this mean to offshore?

Someone with a brain explain to me what this means......on the most basic level. Does this mean DC residents can play online poker? Where? Online poker sites that will now be based out of DC?

That will be the day. I'll have no need to go to Vegas if they ever do this.

Depends what you consider the "Right" direction. If you want it to be heavily taxed and regulated, I guess it's the "right" direction. What makes anyone think they won't put a huge sin tax on gambling, like they do with cigarettes? Only the government benefits from that arrangement.

Agreed. The majority of the things that the govt controls/regulates becomes less efficient for the consumer.

They obviously want you to pay your tax on poker that what this is all about, so all it really means is the good players must pay tax cause bad players cant win, but if u think about it the good players are probably already paying taxes so whats the point. Casino who the hell wins on that hahaha....

Online sports gambling will never be legalized in the US. In fact all of the federal "online gambling" laws they are proposing (that include online poker and possibly online casino) crack down on online sports gambling in a big way. Huge taxes imposed and creating a blacklist of all the online sports gambling sites and the processors they use (continuously updated) so banks will not process anything related. Neither will wes.un. or mon.gra. That is why as a sports bettor you should hope that no online gambling legislation is passed.

There is no way this happens, especially in D.C. Likely just an oversight that Congress didn't intervene and stop this.
But don't worry. They will.
Do you really think any U.S. jurisdiction will be allowed to have any online gambling?
Best scenario is like Delaware, where somehow they merge this into a lottery game.
But people playing legal online poker?

So you are going to choose to leave Poker stars or Full tilt and sign up with USA poker or whatever D.C. Lottery and Charitable Games Control Board calls their site ?
Will they have rake back, LOL, do they have good customer service when I call DC, will I get some sexy clerk on the phone, will the government have sexy ads for their site. Absurd. They are going to have a hard time getting even the local poker players to leave Full tilt/Poker stars in my opinion, will DC even have the liquidity to maintain a site?
This is lottery nonsense and video poker crap, this probably won't be a poker site, even the local players who would have played probably won't care.

And the announcement for such will be buried in a 3 paragraph brief in late August, saying "Feds fold D.C. poker plan."
