Cam Newton Ripped In Draft Guide: Pro Football Weekly
"Very disingenuous -- has a fake smile, comes off as very scripted and has a selfish, me-first makeup," writes Nawrocki.
He continued, "Always knows where the cameras are and plays to them. Has an enormous ego with a sense of entitlement that continually invites trouble and makes him believe he is above the law -- does not command respect from teammates and will always struggle to win a locker room . . . Lacks accountability, focus and trustworthiness -- is not punctual, seeks shortcuts and sets a bad example. Immature and has had issues with authority. Not dependable."

I'm sure 80% of the QB's in the NFL could have the same image.

Does the name Jamarcus Russell ring a bell?

Comparing Newton to Russell is a joke, there is no comparison.

A Heisman winning QB is selfish and me first? WOW, who saw that coming? Sometimes you have to have a certain mindset to be the best. This is pure garbage.

He is a flashy player, but they only beat Oregon bc of Auburn's D-Fense! He will be ok in the NFL, hopefully better than Russel on the Raiders was. They are similar players though.

To me they are mirror images of each other, and judging by the comments in this article it seems they also share the same attitude. Both have big arms and are inaccurate, both are slow, both ran over guys in college(which they won't be able to do in pros).

Russell was over rated from the start, was never good. Mel Kiper started hyping him up after he played well in a bcs game. Russell was never going to be a NFL QB he is immature and stupid.

Newton is focused and knows how to win, all of the negativity on him is unwarranted, dude won the Heisman, had an insane season and led his team to a title, he will have a future in the NFL.

I don't think you can speculate on a lot of guys. Hundreds of things can decide whether a player is good or not in the NFL.

Newton is not a good quarterback and is overrated for the amount of publicity he gets. Tyrod Taylor from Virginia Tech is better than that guy. Whichever NFL team picks Newton up, is going to be disappointed once they put him in the game.

Cam is in for a wake up call when he gets to the NFL. Watch his footwork from under center......garbage.
I hope he does well, but I am expecting a short career.

This guy is going to have some major struggles in the big leagues. WRs hate stuck up QBs that always run the team all by themselves and dont involve the star wide outs.

He'll probably be more like Vince Young. Will show flashes of greatness and promise to keep teams thinking he'll be a good maybe even great starting QB, but just never get there. He can make all the throws but can he make all the reads, can he handle the pressure and responsibilities of being a starting QB in the NFL.

Brutal write up. Read that this mornin. Still, lots of teams need QBs. If you're gonna take a player in the first 5 picks, you draft for upside and swing for the fences. I'd be shocked if that write up dropped Newton's draft stock. IMO, he's the most intriguing player going into the draft with a dickload of potential. There's a lot I don't like about him and none of it has to do with his ability to throw the football.
