When playing a team in their Home State!! What do you make of it?? Just a stupid trend that's due to come to an end? Or does the road stop here for the huskies?

It's a hot topic on a Husky Forum that I came across. It was mentioned on ESPN last night according to a poster. A buddy of mine (who is an alumni) is doing the reseach.... I'll post the detail here when available.

Public or books will get murdered on this game. Public is all on UConn. If San Diego State wins, books will make a shitload of money I believe.

Interesting for sure. I remember seeing a stat at the beginning of the tourney that over the past few years teams playing within a certain radius (either 15 or 50 miles i believe) of their home court were something like 21-4 SU. Wish I could find that article again. Personally think SDSU should be favored and will win but I've bought into the Kemba/Jimmer mania and will probably lay off both of those games tonight.

VERY VERY WRONG....yes, the public is for the most part on UCONN for sure but not as wide as you would think. There is gonna be heavy money from west coast on SDSU....come tourney time, it's good to disregard public money and such in close games such as these. Hopefully refs don't dog UCONN....if called fairly, UCONN rolls here. sdsu hasn't played nearly as tough a team as UCONN all season long (including BYU)

I think UCONN takes this one with ease....nonetheless, anything can happen. BOL

Depends where they favored in them? Where they a dog? Interesting but probably meaningless, would have more meaning if it was some puts as a coach

2000 loss to Tennessee was in Birmingham, AL at the BJCC. I was there. Scratch that one. UNC and Stanford were there too. Check and check again.

This isn't a fault of Calhoun.... I bet all coaches have poor records when facing a NCAA opponent in the home state.

This is true - I went back and checked. It was Alabama. But all that means is that my research is flawed. I tried to pin-point the 7 losses.

Bottom line - When facing teams in their home state in the ncaa tournament... Uconn is 0-7 under Calhoun. I'm not personally saying that Uconn loses tonight. Just stating a fact, trend, call it what you will.

What did you expect? UConn is a perennial winner, of course the public is on UConn. Not saying they are right to take them today but it was obvious that the public would be on UConn.
