Back in 90 and 91 they played the white vs black crap with UNLV and Duke. Saying good (Duke) vs evil (UNLV). I'm glad the Rebels smash Duke in the title game. If I'm not mistaken, it is still the biggest margin of victory to date in the title game.

If I'm not mistaken, Duke got revenge the very next year sending UNLV home from the final 4 with their only loss of the season. SO much for the runnin' rebs and their greatest team ever mantra.

Let's not forget Michigan is a very high-ranking academic school. Not all schools recruit clean and academically on par with their own schools, but this wasn't Louisiana Monroe or some JUCO we're talking about.

I feel like they are always trying to claim whites put their race down and not letting them progress but this term seems to call out blacks who may come from well to do and educated families? I don't get it
I think you can even go broader on this than just talking about the black community. The reason just about anyone talks trash on people they've known that have gone on to be successful is because of envy and the simple fact that misery loves company; and that person is no longer around to be miserable with them anymore. Everything stems from self-interest in the end.

Even from my own experiences, I had to deal with it all the time. Coming from the Midwest, there's a lot of fear and ignorance all over the place. My lack of fear got me hated on frequently, and still does. I couldn't stay in St. Louis after high school. I went away to college while my friends either went the JUCO route (perfectly fine) or didn't go to school at all. I got to meet kids from all over the world, join a fraternity, party with all sorts of coeds as a result of leaving the nest and seeing other parts of the country aside from the same area over and over again. Did my friends take interest and ask me all about it? Nope, just non-stop put downs and doubt that anything I was experiencing away from home was even happening. All because absolutely NOTHING was happening with them. They couldn't handle it.

After a stint in Hawai'i, I moved to Vegas not knowing anyone here and no job lined up. Nobody I knew back home would have ever done this. Either the family they started had dug their roots in too deep, or in most cases there was simply no safety net if they were to leave. This is also why you see very little international travel from Midwesterners outside of the occasional all-inclusive resort where everyone speaks english. Anyway, because I took risks and didn't have kids or a long-term girlfriend standing in my way, I've been able to get to that next level and almost become employment-free. I have a long ways to go IMO, but to be at that point and have the experiences I've had in a place like this could never happen if I had been so risk-averse like everyone else. The only time people back home ever stop doubting that I can achieve any of this is when they want a place to crash for their upcoming trip to Vegas. It's constant put-downs and doubt about being impossible to do well in a town like this in our current economy, always some "new way to make money when it comes to Ralphie" (I've had many previous failures that everyone wants to point out), or something else completely off-the-wall. And I'm never boastful -- they ask me what's going on, I answer them truthfully, and the waterfall of nonsense just starts flowing after that.

I really didn't want to make this post look like I'm patting myself on the back or anything (I'm not that cool and my dick is small, so there), but I didn't know how else to paint the picture -- people love success, but hate successful people. They expect you to do no better than they have, and will resent you if you do.

There had to be some shots taken for this to be an effictive film/propaganda piece, or it wouldn't be interesting or get under people's skin. It wasn't a movie about basketball, it was a movie about class and race tensions, and behind the scenes money in universitities. It was designed to piss people off, is what i'm saying. But a lot of people don't know the story, like how all the titles were negated by Michigan anyway, because of corruption.

Well actually Rose, Webber and the others become quite success stories in life from being brought up in the ghetto with nothing

You have to give them all a ton of credit and all stayed out of any real trouble like most ghetto athletes get into

                    I clearly support Rose here

                      That right?

Forgive me for not realizing that, seems rather hard to believe considering it appears English is his second language.

Point is, Duke has recruited plenty of players with background's similar to Jalen's. And when he was coming out of high school Duke already had two point guards on the team (Hurley/MCaffery). There was no room for him unless he wanted to be a back-up, and it was well known Rose was a malcontent/head case who probably would not have been receptive to riding the pine behind two white kids. And so he has no reason to be upset with Duke, other than his own warped perceptions, which I'm sure were fed to him by a liberal media consumed with disparaging Duke's reputation.
No more of that talk, or I'll put the leeches on you.
