The El Cortez has done about 20 million in renovations over the last few years and really isn't bad at all......the rooms are decent and they have a very good sportsbook. It is located a few blocks past the Fremont Street Experience. The ElCo is old vegas at its best. You have no fear of getting robbed in that area in my opinion....I have walked it many times at night.

I usually stay down in that area myself but this year will be at the M. Good luck and if you have any more questions let me know.

You can't beat El Cortez' location, dump or not. No cab required to go donk your money off on the strip, you can donk it off at 1 of like 20 joints wihtin 10 minute walk from there. Old Vegas is mad cheap, too, compared to the stodgey overpriced strip.
