Couple things.
I was just pointing out how awesome our military folks are, and how impressed I was by the clean up of the Seals or Special Forces. Technically SEALS are not special forces. They fall under Special Operations command, but are not Special Forces, Special Forces refers to only the Army component of Special operations command.
I think it was obviously SEALS, but the writer made a common mistake.

Let's put this in it's proper perspective. First, the Americans killed did a stupid thing. It is tantamount to going to Afghanistan and passing out bibles. Unfortunately, they got exactly what they were asking for.

Having said that, they still were Americans and they still were killed by people who are totally worthless. These people have nothing to offer the world. If Obama had a pair, he would just send planes into the area, sink these ships on sight, and destroy their home ports. Killing Americans overseas can be construed as an act of war. Why spend all of the time and money on having ships crusing the area when we can simply destroy the home of the pirates. We do not have to invade the country. Just destroy the bases that the pirates use.

Tactical Failure, Should have been resolved much quicker, but it is a complex situation. I feel bad for the dead's families, and hope that we come up with some real techniques tactics and procedures to dictate how these operations are to be executed.

It's not just the people who pass close to pirate infested waters that are idiots. Wasn't there a 16 year old girl from California a few months back who wanted to sail the world and he got stranded in the South Seas in high winds in the middle of nowhere thousands of miles from the shore and the US Navy had to use their resources to find and rescue her? Who is going to pay for all that?

In my book when you are ill equipped and decide to sail the world on your own you are actually on your own. It's not the government's job to send the Navy or the Airforce to recue you because you are stupid.

Of course something needs to be done. But it shouldnt be solely the US's burden to handle this alone. It should be a joint effort involving numerous nations. Yes, this latest incident was involving Americans, but the Somalis have been stealing, extorting, and killing people from all nations for years. This is the world's problem, not just America. These Somalis now use "motherships" for refueling, etc., so they are now able to venture far into the Indian Ocean. It's not like this is happening 50 miles from Somalia and it would be a small target area. We're talking 1000's of square miles. Even for the US Navy it would need to pool massive resources in order to search the vast Indian Ocean for a couple guys on a freaking dingy. Other countries need to step in as well.
