So Puckoff, I guess Jari Kurri simply put up points because he played with Wayne Gretzky??

        Joe Mullen

first U.S.-born player to score 500 career goals and the first American to record 1,000 career points.

Won 3 Stanley Cups with two different teams

Had over 100 points with Calgary one season leading them to its first cup ever

Different positions are really hard to compare to each other. Chris Chelios and Brian Leetch are clearly the best D-Men but it's hard to compare to forwards whose jobs/responsiblities are different. I grew up watching these guys and although nobody really has Chelios in the top stop (probably because of points, etc), that's not even his best attribute. With that being said, just wanted to give him a mention but would not put him in top spot.

Regarding best forwards, I think clearly it is between La Fontaine and Modano. In this regards, if you could have either one of these guys in their prime for one year at their best, who wouldn't pick Pat La Fontaine. This guys was amazing. If he would of remained healthy, and at his level of play, this question would be a no brainer. However, too many "what ifs" so this is the debate. Quality or Quantity (not that Modano isn't quality). With all that being said, I still think La Fontaine did enough to earn the #1 spot. Shout out for Joe Mullen too.

            My picks:

            1. Pat La Fontaine

            2/3. Either Modano or Leetch

4/5. Chris Chelios or Joe Mullen

Other than the #1 spot, I think all the following #2-#5 spots can be interchangeable.

No, not at all. Jari Kurri was certainly a better player, but his fame was GREATLY enhanced playing along side Gretzky virtually his entire career. In fact, I think Kurri struggles to reach the 1,000 point plateau without Wayne.

It doesn't change the fact that I think Stevens could have been a top 5 US born player had he stayed healthy. Stevens had 726 career points, while missing an average of 27 games in his final 8 seasons. He's probably a 900-1,000 point scorer had he played an extra 200+ games over his career.

Chris Chelios, Mike Modano & Mike Richter looked like Canadians.

For the present I like Tim Thomas, Ryan Miller and Patrick Kane.

Modano but would have been LaFontaine if he stayed healthy for a full career.

It's difficult being a Canadian living in Kentucky to keep up on hockey.
25% of the All Star Game roster were guys I know little to nothing about.....it's quite depressing.

Roenick was the most complete player, but I'll take Mullen. You could count on him every year for 30 goals. He is one of the most underrated players ever. Manute Bol is a close third.

Hockey was great when they had the Sakic, Forsberg, Roy vs Shanahan, Federov, and forgot the redwings goalie name. He was awesome too!
