This will result into an opportunity for the US to re-write laws and enable them to block non US regulated casinos (offshore sportsbooks).
Unless you like playing online roulette or black jack this is completely non beneficial to US citizens, in fact it is a step backwards.

Spencer Bachus is more likely to have the CIA pilfer SBR's database and find a way to send us all to Gitmo than to allow any online gambling expansion. The Evangelicals are his bread-and-butter money base, AND THEY KNOW WHAT IS GOOD FOR YOU.

This will never happen, if it ever did it would be at least 10 years away.

The European model is, IMHO, the optimum way to go. Most towns in the UK and Ireland have betting shops (William Hill, Paddy Power etc...) with an online compliment (click and bricks). As a result, in addition to generating revenue it creates jobs and fills store fronts.
Sadly, we are a long way from the UK / Ireland set up; which, by the way, works.

We'll see something like NY already has for online horse racing with Youbet. Poker is expected to break open. Maybe after election season.

Yeah gambling is stuck as a vice in the same category with these others, but with drugs/prostitution you could make the case that banning them is in the public's health and safety interest. But gambling? Why the f*** should it be seen as any different than currency speculation, options speculation, collectibles speculation, real estate speculation, or any other speculation that can ruin you financially if you don't do it properly?

Poker will come first and when they see how good that works and how much tax revenue they can generate, the flood gates will open. Probably 3 years or so away yet for my poker.
