Question about betting halves

If you are betting a half and you take -5. When following the game do you just add 5 points to the other team. If at the end of the game if you team wins by more than 5 you win?

It only involves points in the half you are betting. So even if your team wins the game by 14, if you take them -5 in a half and they outscore their opponent 10-7 in that particular half (+OT if it's second half), then you lose.

if you take a halftime -5 bet they only need to cover the 5 in the second half.
