Giving anything back to the society on Christmas?

Excellent stuff, SoV and DS. Queen Bee and I are going down to the local animal shelter this afternoon for our annual visit and donations, a little cash, 50-lb bags of both cat and dog food, plus a gift voucher they can use at our vet to get supplies/medicine.

Adopted the same family again at church again this year. Single mother with 5 kids by 4 different fathers. Last year we showed up with the presents on christmas eve and the only thing under the tree was a bag of oranges, no sh1t.

My wife and I donated about $500 worth of Toy-R-Us gift cards to a local battered women's shelter here in town. I donated about $100,000 worth of land to a church last week.

I give a rats ass care less about giving anything back to society ,does that qualify as giving something back?

How about getting the word out that we are being hosed by new world order,planned central economy keynesian socialists like all the presidents since Woodrow Wilson who set up the federal reserve.Does that count as giving back to society?Maybe if enough people follow the advice to vote out and oust these turds where we have a true free market economy ,fewer people in society will need to be spoon fed by the tax payer.

The dream would be where there is no need to give back to society because people are doing just fine on their own where they don't need someone to take care of them.

We really need to talk about that today Brent?! Maybe if people took one day out of their lives, whether it be Xmas Day or any other day on the calendar for that matter, to stop worrying about those things that will not be changed in 24 hours and focus on the difference their actions CAN make in that same 24 hour time frame, the blinders on our little slice of pampered existence will be rolled up and we'll all finally accept that one person can make a difference in someone else's life if they choose to stop yapping and finally start doing.

Donated $500 to a local children's hospital. This is the second year my wife and I are doing this and it feels great. I wish I could of helped out at a local food bank this holiday season but I've been so busy this last week and I wasn't in town the week before.

No homeless people? No people in need?

Just got back from the orphanage. Great day! The look on the faces of the kids when we got them presents was amazing! It just made my and my parent's day!!! Lovely feeling!

Another think my mum has been doing is giving food and something warm to drink to the homeless in this cold weather. It' not that hard and it will certainly help the person.

Merry Christmas to everyone and hope everyone here stays warm and has a wonderful time with their families.

for once i agree with sunde
doing good deeds is a little less noble when you pat yourself on the back for it

if the purpose of telling people of your good deeds is to motivate them to help the poor, etc then there's absolutely no reason to throw $ amounts around. just say i like to give to children's hospitals or the homeless or whatever.

Sov I and others i'm sure appreciate your generosity. The way I understand it from a religious perspective is that God want's us to give charity and not show off about it. In the Q'uran it speaks specifically about this.

O you who believe! do not make your charity worthless by reproach and injury, like him who spends his property to be seen of men and does not believe in Allah and the last day; so his parable is as the parable of a smooth rock with earth upon it, then a heavy rain falls upon it, so it leaves it bare; they shall not be able to gain anything of what they have earned; and Allah does not guide the unbelieving people. I'm assuming your attention was good but it just looks bad when we brag or show off about giving charity. If you did this without the intention of trying to make yourself look good then accept my apology and may you be rewarded for your kindness.
