Just was wondering to myself and now I'm interested to know why. Why are you here if you can't get 200 into a book? Why would you be wasting your time on a sports betting forum? It doesn't make any sense to me.
Why would anyone be here and not be a 'Pro'?

#8Some are with locals. Some don't want SBR to have their info or make affiliate cash off of them. Some find it difficult to post at these books for various reasons ie they're worried about the cyber trail, certain deposit options aren't available to them, etc...
Many reasons people choose not to become a Pro. Just be careful you don't lump every non Pro into the 'can't afford $200' basket because some of the sharpest guys on here have chosen not to participate.Comment -

#10IN THE LAST MONTH I HAVE SENT OUT OVER 5 DIMES TO (BET PHOENIX,5 DIMES,AND NOW BET JAMAICA) I COULD BECOME A PRO ANYTIME I WANT TO AS WE SPEAK I HAVE 2700 AT BET JAMAICA.
I CHOOSE NOT TO BECOME A PRO BECAUSE I WANT TO CONTINUE HAVING PRIVACY LIKE I SAID I BET A NICKLE A GAME AND I DONT FEEL LIKE THINKING PEOPLE ARE LOOKING AT MY PLAYS AND LAUGHING AT ME IF I LOSE.
MOST OF THE KIDS IN THIS PLACE ONLY BET POINTS SO WHO GIVES A F-CK BUT GUYS LIKE MYSELF WHO BET REAL MONEY DONT WANT MY ACCOUNT TO BE SEEN BY A BUNCH OF PEOPLE WHO ARE HOPING I LOSEComment -

#17Beantownjimmy, you're being too hard on yourself. I find it difficult to believe that anyone would root for such a fine, upstanding citizen as yourself to lose.
JJ, I'll have to check with the boys in the points forum to see what your SBR credit score is first before I loan you such a large amount of points. I'll get back to you later.Comment -

#19no reason not to now, seeing as every perk is being taken away.
its understandable though, sbr is trying to weed out the scammers and low-lifes, which is what many of us wanted to see be done.Comment -

#20I just assumed that If people didn't have 200 in one of these books, they were likely not gambling. I didn't take in to account that many may be playing with locals. I think this site deserves the affiliate income since they're offering so many perks to its regulars so I don't see why anyone would be opposed to participating.Comment -

#21I don't mind giving sbr my account # and show them I have a few hundo in one of their sponsored books. I think it should be mandatory to post here. That would really get rid of all the riff raff and the ghost accounts. Raising store prices for sbr pro's I thought was not necessary. I guess they added that earmark in. Like they do in congress. Figured they'd throw that in too.Comment -

#22So what then happens when you request to be paid from one of the SBR books? You'll need to give out your information for that? Things like bankwires and the forms sportsbooks make you fill out for credit card deposits all go under the personal info category don't they? In terms of someone getting paid off one's losses, I'm trying to understand whether it's a good thing for SBR John to receive a cut or have it all go to the sportbook itself? Personally, with a recent re-up made to Legends being a member of SBR, it was nice to take advantage of a higher bonus than the average Joe would get. As a result, if it was not for the affiliation with SBR, the extra level of bonus would not have occurred. So for one to receive a cut of one's losses, it does not make a difference to me. When I place a bet and it loses, I do not think afterwards who is going to benefit from it, I just move onto the wager.
In the end, I suspect there are many different viewpoints on this but this is just my opinion.Comment -

#27I come here to get insight and laugh. I could care less about longshot contests and status. What matters at the end of the day is cold hard cash. That said, it is very useful to wager with the points that SBR issues because they do have some value mentally and can satisfy that urge to gamble when you don't want to risk real money. I would be proud to accumulate a 1000 pts on here because it demonstrates discipline. But do I really care if I lost them all, no, losing a 1000 pts is like losing $40 in the real world using SBR's $25 giftcard as an exchange rate. You would think some people were battling over an estate looking at some of the point threads!Comment -

#31For me, I'm not shamed at admitting I'm a broke ass college kid that currently has under the $200 requirement in a sbr sponsored sportsbook. But if I did and hopefully when I do, I'll be clicking on that "Become a Pro" button. And what's this nonsense about personal information, I might be sounding naive here, but would SBR(the entity that is the authority on judging the quality of sportsbooks and a place you can dispute and warn others of shitty books) engage in some shady stuff with your account #?
oh and for the question of why I'm here if you can't get 200 in a book, what's the problem of betting less than that and still participating in a sports betting forum? Secondly, this forum offers up much more than just gambling talk. It's like asking why are you going to the club if your not going to dance. There's a lot of other things to do than the primary purpose.Last edited by nyed1010; 12-22-10, 12:25 PM.Comment -

#33The SBR points program is a lot of fun and we appreciate all of you guys speaking out your opinion.
It's more than a little amusing that some guys will give every bit of personal info including drivers lic, phone, even a copy of an electric bill to an offshore bookie but are suddenly overcome with some privacy fetish when it comes to verifying they are a real player by providing an account number. Plus, its the same info used in many of the SBR contests. Oh well on that one.
The Pro ranks are nearing 1500 which is a great thing. Soon they will be the majority and that's a good thing. We can offer real players a lot more entertainment in the way of contests and poker, bashes, trivia and on and on if we exclude the non players. We have several books offering some really cool stuff to the Pro's in 2011. These marketing deals help the company and benefit the guys who make it all happen; you Pro's. I absolutely assure you SBR will continue to work hard to bring it on in 2011 and show our appreciation for supporting the site.Comment -
