I love all the lies and BS that come out after these sort of deals. Rangers Owner is saying they got a counter offer from Lee that if they would have guaranteed a 7th year on a contract, he would have been a Ranger. So instead, he took five years with a vesting option? Someone is full of shit. I think Lee's agent is pretty much a weasel like all agents in this case, I also have a feeling the Rangers are trying to let their fans think they went all out to get Lee. Interesting stuff.

terrible....the fish are dying now with the phils and braves...both the NL/AL East are outrageous and realignment is needed as right off the bat, 6 teams are already dead before the season starts...or bring in a salary cap idea, though that will NEVER happen

why are they making it like Lee turned down money to go to philly?

              Yanks offered 7 years 150 M
Phils offer 5 year 120 M with 6th year vesting option for 20M+

where exactly did he turn down money?

Giants rotation can compete with this rotation, and their bullpen is better. Plus they have hidden bats.

I would have rather he went to yankees just because i'm a cards fan. As the cardinals showed us last year though, having three good pitchers and a couple bats isn't always enough to make the playoffs. I'm really not that worried. Seems like an obvious under bet for season wins already just on public fade grounds.

Well I hope they find those bats and bring them to the plate next year

Phillies are the new Yankees. They win a world series and now they have the shakes because they couldn't get back so they are now buying up every pitcher and player just like the yankees have for years.

Good point. Also factor in cost of living and taxes in NY.

He might make a little less, but he will save more not living in NY, and he can retire one year sooner.
