Every Monday Night Football game was like a Superbowl back in those days. The pre game and Howard's halftime and Dandy Don making fun of Howard. They would have guests at half time even Presidents.
My best memory of Don was the ice Bowl, the NFC Championship in 66 or 67 (give or take). Dandy Don played his heart out but just could not throw a good pass in the -25 degree weather with the 30 mph wind. And the few good passes he threw were dropped. Still, he almost single handily won the game over Lombardi's Packers in a terrific and gutsy performance. He was probably 8-24 for 130 yards and a pic or two but a memory that was burned into me forever, So thanks Don for those special memories and may you RIP.
