I find it much less stressful if I don't watch the games
Still feel great when I win
And losses are more diluted

Absolutely. If the game isn't on, Im in front of my macbook, or on my blackberry getting live updates. Gambling consumes my life, which is why im trying to get out

Hell, half the time I bet I only do it because the game is on tv, and yes I do realize this is a terrible idea.

What if there were a snapping of fingers that broke the hypnosis?

I try not to. NFL I enjoy watching them becauseI get to make more money on 2nd Half bets. If I have money on a NBA game I would rather not watch. I had $25 on Portland ML last night and watching them self destruct in the 4th made me go nuts. And this was for $25 imagine $100!

I try to, if only so that I can hopefully learn something about the two teams that might give me an edge in the future.

Only if I had an interest outside the bet because watching won't change the outcome...
It like betting on roulette... I don't care about the ball spinning i just want to know where it lands...

Agree NBA is unwatchable. IMO, I rarely watch games just get box scores and move on. I will watch playoffs (NFL) and love March Madness.

RollPlayer makes a good point as to why to watch games and those that wager 2nd halfs it makes sense for, but Cougar, I agree with you and have been suggestiong to other gamblers for years to not watch the games you have action on, as you wrote, TOO FUKKING STRESSFUL. Or words to that effect. L

I've found it much easier just to check the final score instead of putting myself through an emotional rollercoaster for three hours. I lost three hockey games this week, one with :42 seconds to go and two in the final 10 seconds. It would be a hell of a lot easier to get to sleep if I didn't know those details.
Just give me the final score. The teams aren't going to do anything differently because I'm watching.

Tennis yes if the match is on tv or I can find it online and I'm awake. I love watching it regardless but if I'm really serious about making money during a tournament I think it's important in order to gauge a player's shot selection, level of fatigue, and overall form amongst multiple other variables.
Every other sport though- it depends. Baseball has become beyond boring to me and I've realized the main reason I loved watching the NFL was because of the Sunday tradition of going to a sports bar with a group of gambling friends, eating shit food and drinking beer until we believed the Bills were a good bet. And I've already overdosed on the NBA this season thanks to League Pass so I'm over it unless I'm considering betting 2h. Much less stressful to not watch and I've realized how silly it is to be constantly refreshing a scoreboard online to watch each down, pitch or basket. Life's too short for that scoreboard crap at the very least.

I agree, but if I am betting on a marquis matchup like a championship game, I'll watch.

Nope. I can honestly say I'm not. I just don't care at the moment to be honest - my watching each free throw isn't going to change whether the money ends up in my account after the game. Unless someone has just started to sports bet, I can't see why they'd watch every game they wager on. Either you're watching overpaid turkeys not do their jobs or you're watching stats play out as they should. Any big plays you'll see/read/hear about after the fact anyway so you can always go check those out to appreciate the sport.

Depends on bet size. A large amount usually means no and I check periodically online but smaller amounts I usually do. I find the level of "sweat" also is tied into the amount wagered.
