an hour and 12 minutes is a short call when calling the IRS.

I have been on hold longer than that

Did it help at least? Must have been a complex set of questions.

                  I'm calling BS.

The IRS doesn't have the ability to freeze bank accounts.

Then you're an idiot. They didn't freeze it, levied it.

The funny part is they didn't levy the bank account with my wife as the primary account holder, they levied mine, with here as secondary account holder. They tried to garnish my future wages from National City Bank, which is out of business and I haven't worked for since Nov 9th, 2009.

If that doesn't prove the validity of my story through the ineptness of the US Government, then what does?

I called Juanita in the Fresno appeals office last night though and she said my wife's SSN is now clear. Should go through in a week or two.

So it only took 3+ years, about 50 phone calls, and me acting as the go-between for the IRS and IRS appeals (can't they just talk to each other, fukkin Government) and it will finally be rectified, I hope.

I've had issues with the IRS in the past too. It amazes me the time and effort that is put into audits and collections. The IRS supposedly audited by personal tax returns and found an error that caused me to owe an additional $4K. My CPA took exception to this b/c he knew that my return was completely correct as he had another CPA audit the file. The tax return is fairly simple as I had my regular W2 income, 1 rental house sale, and 2 rent home along with very normal deductions (mortgage interest, insurance, depreciation, etc.....). The IRS sent me 21 letters in 90 days, and then levied my bank account for the deficiency. After 6 months of requesting that they re-audit my file, I received a check in the mail from the IRS for the $4k, but I never received and explanation as to why.

I just socked away 8k into a savings acct to go to Uncle Sam in a couple months. I've resolved to do my taxes during the month of January this year rather than waiting until the last minute like I always do .
