He should be suspended. I know it was instigated, but come on. Finnegan is a serial thug. I'd give Finnegan 2 games and 150k and Johnson 1 game and 75k.

They were both kicked out of that game, right? That's enough. I have no problem with that fight, let them sort it out themselves.

Andre Johnson will NOT be suspended by NFL
Texans receiver Andre Johnson has reportedly dodged a bullet from the league office, as the NFL has decided not to suspend Johnson for punching Titans cornerback Cortland Finnegan on Sunday.
Mark Berman of FOX 26 Sports is reporting that Johnson will be fined but not suspended.
That means Johnson will play Thursday night against the Eagles in a very big game for the Texans, who are 5-6 and one game behind the Jaguars and Colts in the AFC South. Having to face Johnson could be trouble for the Eagles, whose pass defense struggled as they fell to 7-4 in a loss to the Bears Sunday.
There’s no word on the amount of Johnson’s fine, or on the league’s discipline for Finnegan.
WOOHOO!!!

Cortland initiated the whole thing anyways. Andre doesn't deserve to get fined much for defending himself.
wtf he can punch someone and not get suspended? this is sketchy for a league that wants to have a clean image

Cortland played at Samford college which is a small time college in my hometown. Andre Johnson is a beast.

I think it's just accepted that Cortland has a reputation for being and playing dirty, whereas Andre up until now has had a squeaky clean reputation and image. He also apologized immediately following the incident and it came across as sincere, he knew he was going to get fined either way.

Punches like that when a player is not facing you and in a defenseless position. That is a cheap shot
Johnson weighs 220, Finnegan about 190
Fck u NFL

Well if this was in soccer (Cantona) or basketball (Artest) he would have been looking for a minimum 1 year ban. NFL is looking for their own interest here.

Personally, imo it wasn't that bad. I would have not suspended either player.. It's football, a very emotional tough fought game. I do agree both players pocket books should be a litttle lighter.. say 25K a piece and call it even?

I think Andre will get a 50k fine while Finnegan gets 75k just cause this is his 4th time this year being looked at by the league.

not bad!?! so its ok then to punch guys in the back of the head, i can understand the scrimmage but when punches are thrown that should draw the line, these guys are paid millions it doesnt matter how emotional it is...

Also don't forget that these games are being watched by children and kids in high school. If the NFL doesn't suspend this guy what kind of a message does it give to high school kids playing football or college kids?

The receiver was not defenseless.
In this case the defender was the one receiving...

Remember this one. Face-flirting
An Atlanta Falcons player is out on bond following his arrest earlier this week, reportedly after a fight with his wife over a Facebook friend.
Offensive tackle Quinn Ojinnaka, 25, was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail at 1:40 a.m. Wednesday on a misdemeanor charge of simple battery, according to jail records. He was released about four hours later after posting a $2,400 bond.
Ojinnaka was arrested at his home in Suwanee after he fought with his wife and spat at her during an argument over a female friend of his on the social networking Web site, Facebook, according to a police report.
The altercation happened as Ojinnaka was preparing to watch a basketball game Tuesday night, the police report said.
Ojinnaka told police his wife tried to stab him with a pen, and she said he threw her on some stairs before tossing her out of the house, the police report said.
Neither Ojinnaka nor his wife complained of injuries and declined medical assistance, police said. Had Ojinnaka not had a Facebook account, he wouldn’t have been Face-flirting with another woman, his wife wouldn’t have tried to stab him with a pen and he wouldn’t have been arrested for throwing her on (on?) some stairs.

Either you're an idiot or you must not have watched that brawl against the Pistons... Artest went into the stands and punched FANS, not just one player on the court. If you want to complain about someone sucker punching and not getting suspended, refer to the Richard Seymour v Ben Roethlisberger clip from just a week ago. I'm pretty sure fans of any sort would agree Johnson's actions were a hell of a lot more justified than Seymour's yet the same overall punishment was handed out.

Courtland Finnegan is the dirtiest player in the NFL.
