VCU +3.5 & +145
I don't play alot of college hoops especially this time of year but I like this play. VCU is returning 4 starters from a talented 27 win team. VCU upset Wake Forest last week 90-69 where they forced 23 turnovers. VCU uses several different pressess and forces tempo on teams. VCU coach Smith was a former assistant to Donovan at FLorida. With UT's point guard Goins not 100% I see alot of turnovers. I think this quote gives a huge amount of insight into this game: "I can't remember the last time I've been pressed; probably high school,'' said Goins, who started his career at Ball State before transferring to Mt. San Jacinto (Calif.) junior college and UT. "Most of handling the press is just reaction, but you rely on things you've been working on in practice and just stay strong with the ball." The Vols can't simulate what they will see from VCU in practice. On offense, VCU has three guys shooting 43 percent or better from three. Also, I think UT could get caught looking ahead to the UCLA- Villanova winner as well not to mention the distractions about Pearl from the NY media. All signs point to VCU to me.
I'm playing the spread and ML here.
