do you care about hard drive space or RAM? if those aren't that important to you, I would go with one of these 2 and save yourself money

Battery life is the most important thing for a lap top imo. That hp one is pretty powerful and only has a 5 hour battery life because of it. So after a month you will be recharging every 2-3 hours. I saw some other black fridays laptop with the new battery cell that gets over 10 hours and they dont suffer on overall life expectancy from constant recharging as bad as normal lithiums.

Its all about what you are going to use it for, if you are just streaming video, surfing the web and general entertainment(not editing or gaming) you dont need an i-series processor, a dual-core is plenty.

This is a great deal. I have essentially the same laptop but I bought it last year for $699 on sale. If you can get it for $500 thats a great deal. I wouldn't buy anything with less than 4GB ram and windows 7. Dont worry about hard drive space, external hard drives are getting very cheap.

If you like battery life mac is in a league by itself, everything else is fukkin whore shit

It is. I have a similar one. It's not something you want to travel with but they are nice to hook up 2nd monitor to. Only thing really missing is HDMI which works for 2nd monitor or LCD tv.

I have the HP Pavillion DV-7 with AMD Turion Processor. Very similar to the one at Staples. Had it since June and has been great!

brock, that computer is terrible for the price (the original price anyway)...you should EASILY be able to get a computer with an i5 (I suggest to get at least a core i5-450m) or a better graphics card at least to make videos run smoother. (the Intel HD Graphics card is very low end)

I would post the one I am gonna buy which is much better than that computer and only $650 but there are only 2 in stock so I'm keepin it a secret!

short battery life and a lot of the tech info on this is sub par for high tech gaming or video.

i would forget the black friday hoopla and just find a nice laptop via costco / amazon / or ebay.
