While it might not be obvious, I think there are many more barely active members than active ones. Since winning in the casino is pure luck, it only makes sense that the day's biggest winner would come from the larger barely active "never heard of that guy" group more often than the active "regular poster" group. Furthermore, the more active someone is, the greater the chance that they are interested only in sports and thus rarely or never enter the casino.

Not sure about that. It is more likely that many small/smallish losers pay a few big winners, as that is the way a casino normally works. In all likelihood the single biggest winner is up more than the single biggest loser is down on most days.
