Valid point. With a cat or any animal for that matter you know there is no agenda attached and that you can take an animal on face value when it comes to traits such as trust and loyalty....
Almost every human being ive known above the age of 10 has some kind of hidden agenda and thus the innocence that appeals so much when looking at a 'non-evolved' animal becomes lost in translation when looking at a homeless person....Just my thoughts on subject...GL

      sharp post

cats do have an agenda but it's not hidden. 1) they don't like people 2) they like food 3) if you give them food, they still don't like you but they will tolerate your existence

Alright so last night I came home and saw some paw prints on my porch in the snow. I thought the little guy was RIP but no he is still strong.

So I was cooking up some chicken for myself, I cut some tiny pieces for him and put them in a small bowl. Also, as per our conversation here I put 2 shiny quarters on the side of the bowl. Well wouldn't you know it the bowl is licked clean and the quarters are there.

I'm gonna get this little fighter through this long, hard winter. The guy has been through and has some spirit, I like that. Can't take him in though, too many wires in here and he is a kitten.

That means the homeless guy is a poster. Leave 5 dollars besides the can of food next time.

What is the cat supposed to do for shelter ?

Can you let in a garage or something ?

Freezing to death isn't a nice way to go.

                                soon to be a litterbox....

You can make him into a real outdoor cat, but winter shelter is needed.

                                  haha right about the litterbox.

Yeah I'll start putting the food out behind the basement door and then after a couple of times I'll leave the door open a crack and the food inside I think. Good call man.

So, he's what happened - Can 1 - Left it out, Tuna about 70% eaten the next morning. Left it out again. Can cleaned out completely, and it was moved to exactly in front of my door.

Can 2 I left out last night. No sign of it. Completely gone, I looked for it.

If I had to guess I would say night 1 - the kitten. Night 2 - I don't know wtf why exactly in front of my door. Can 2 - Homeless man took it. Maybe I will stay up late and keep an eye out him because sorry guy this is for the kitten, you had your chance to make a living as a man in this world, the kitten did not.

That's good stuff...no harm in helping the less fortunate critters. I'm a firm believer that it creates good karma.

Keep doing what your doing, my uncle actually got a wild cat tame slowly but surely by feeding it the way you described. It didn't take too long before the cat came in the house and was quite comfortable. Next thing you know it was one of the most sociable cats I've ever seen. Let them chose their level of comfort which they will eventually do, it takes time but don't force the cat's trust.
