Why did the patriots pass on dez bryant???
My cousin is a pats fan and he keeps saying its cuz brady had moss???... they passed on him twice! top 3 talent i think they outsmarted themselves. Brady to Dez woulda been unreal.

dude had real character concerns entering the draft, talent was never in question. You can't make a judgement on him until he can stay drug/arrest free for multiple years.

Yeah, anyone wondering how he was gonna respond when times were bad just needs to look at him this season. He is on a good team that is playing awful but I don't see him taking shots at everyone like Randy Moss did. I still think the Pats need a big time WR but they are winning now so I guess they know what they needed.

You can say you don't like/hate/despise the Pats/Brady/Bellicheat but you can't say they suck (well, of course you can say it...you just look stupid when you do)...because they've got three Super Bowl rings and the Jets don't have one since Joe Willie Namath...

                Patriots prefer acquiring/drafting players with:
                1. stable moral character.
                2. proven work ethic.
                3. average or higher intellectual ability

It just wasn't a good fit for them. They know what they are doing. Don't get me wrong, Dez is a great athlete, but NE will do just fine without him.

yes. he does. he also cheated on his wife for years then divorced her.
but the Patriot mold precedes Belichick.
Parcells and Carroll were the same in the character regard.
it comes from the owner Kraft.
when he bought the team in 1992 that's when the Pats
                              turned it around.
the 3 superbowl Pats core was assembled by Parcells and his group
including Scott Paoli who was GM, married to his daughter.
                              now Chiefs GM.

other than the character issues and that they were obviously planning to go after the TE's they also drafted to boost the receiving corps..Leigh Bodden was their only proven corner. They needed a corner much more than another receiver. The worst case scenario happened.. bodden is hurt. They are still awful against the pass, imagine if they didn't have McCourty. btw.. McCourty has played very well and looks like he was a very good pick. Why would they want to add another receiver with character issues?.. then they would have had two going into the season and still only one decent corner. If they could do it again.. they would probably make the same choice.

Not completely true. The Pats just missed out on drafting Dez Bryant, theres nothing else to it. This year the Pats drafted TE Aaron Hernandez and he failed multiple drug test while he was still in Florida.

No excuses, the Pats should of drafted Bryant.

As a lifelong Pats fan, I was actually just wondering the same thing! The guy is freakishly good and it would have been so sweet to have him, especially since the team didn't plan to re-sign Moss anyway.

But having said that, I don't know if people realize how good McCourty is. Kid is starting at corner in a Belichick defense and drawing RAVES. Talented kid but also super-smart! Watch, he's going to go to multiple Pro Bowls.
