All you have to do is compare o and d lines and you can usually figure out
who the better team is

Giants and cowboys for example. Giants had 1 d lineman and 2 banged up offensive lineman out. Steelers had 2 offensive lineman out and 2 d lineman.
Patriots had all lineman healthy
Eagles vs redskins, eagles dominate on the line both ways

Its not about the qb, rb or wr's.

In theory its correct, its a statement thats been said in football for ages. You do still need a qb that can make NFL throws though, but what Ive seen from my years of watching football is that rarely does a qb thrive without protection, Fran Tarkenton comes along once in a lifetime. Ive seen qb's who many call great not look so good without pocket protection.

that is a major factor but many more factors go into the equation, preparation, scheduling, etc. IF that was it, then the best Oline would go 16-0. The fact is at that level mental prep has just as much to do with it as anything, ex. Dallas loses to Jacksonville at home and whips NYG on the road. The talent gap in the NFL is not as big overall as most people think.

i don't know why he is getting guff for a mostly astute post..... the problem is that we really don't know just how good or bad o-lines are. Sometimes a line will overpower an opponent and fail against a better opponent, etc. Coaching has a lot to do with it also - how they handle various defenses etc.

Overall, good post warrior. Anyone who played the game knows how important the offensive line is - too bad they only get mentioned when they make a mistake.

I wish I had paid more attention to the Steelers having Starks and Keomutu out, along with Colon still being out. They couldn't run as usual and they couldn't protect well enough.

You are right about OL and DL being key, but come on, you cant just plug any random yahoo behind a good OL and have him make plays like Vick did the other night. Same goes with QB's like peyton, brady, brees, rodgers who all make their reads a check downs before the snaps.
