It's not unwarranted. It puts pressure on the other team showing them they can do whatever they want. It's like going on a breakaway in basketball and instead of a layup you shoot a three and make it. Completely demoralizes the opponent.

For some reason, starting with the WSU game, Oregon tries one two point conversion every game and it's usually after their first touchdown. It isn't due to a bad kicker because he hasn't missed an XP or FG this year. Looks like it worked today because without it, the score would be 14-14.

Man, and I thought the Michigan/Purdue game was ugly. Cal misses a go ahead 29 yard field goal, then gives up a *SEVENTEEN* play, 85 yard drive starting from the Oregon 1 that takes up the final 9:30 of the game, using every last nanosecond of the play clock on every play.

I guess their coaches think they have an awesome two point play every week versus the opposing D and will score with it. If this is true wouldn't it be better to save it incase they need it at the end of the game?

maybe because they convert like 99% of them and if they ever realy need one down the stretch it will seem like nothing new. i like it.

There have been several scientific papers that have shown that you should go for the points whenever available, i.e. even going for TDs instead of FGs except in extreme circumstances (4th down and long beyond the 37 yard line). And if you practice for two pt conversion, you will make more of them and be money ahead in the long run.

Oregon's coach is simply ahead of the other coaches, he can read.
