The World Series Since 2004 ...
Has sucked the sack. I didn't even realize it until I looked back. Three sweeps. Five games or less in five of the last six series, potentially six of seven if this year's ends next game. In all honesty if you look back over the past decade, outside of the Angels-Giants 2002 Series, the best series have involved the Yankees. Might be sad for some to hear that. Might anger some, but I think it's true ... the Yankees in the Series make baseball more interesting. They played in four this decade, three of them were at least watchable - last year's, the Marlins beating them and of course 2001.

Even betting on this year's series and winning more than losing, I can't watch an entire game from beginning to end, too boring for the most part with very little drama.

The ratings have also declined steadily despite more parody. Anybody have the ratings for this years series?

NEW YORK -- Game 3 earned the second-lowest television rating for a World Series game.
The Texas Rangers' 4-2 win over the San Francisco Giants on Saturday night on Fox drew a 6.7 rating and 13 share, beating only the 6.1 for Game 3 of the 2008 Phillies-Rays series. That game was delayed 91 minutes because of rain and didn't start until after 10 p.m. on the East Coast.
The rating was down 26 percent from the 9.1 for Game 3 of last season's Yankees-Phillies World Series.
This year's series is averaging an 8.1 through three games, up 5 percent from the record low of the 2008 World Series.
Saturday's game began at 7 p.m. ET, the earliest World Series start since 1987. Baseball and network officials had for years resisted earlier start times despite concerns about losing younger viewers, saying the later the game, the higher the rating -- and the greater the revenue. To help offset potential revenue losses from the earlier Game 3 start, sponsor Chevrolet committed to increased advertising.
For the first time during this World Series, Cablevision's more than 3 million New York-area subscribers were able to watch the game after the company settled its dispute with Fox.

The rating is the percentage watching a program among homes with TVs.
How do they know who has a TV in their house

The share is the percentage tuned into the broadcast among those households with TVs on at the time.

I don't understand what this "drama" that you're looking for is. There's been plenty of drama in a lot of Giants games, including here in the WS. A lot of "baseball fans" just don't care for the sport apart from their own teams, maybe because there's too many games I don't know why. In Superbowl/World Cup/Champions League even people who dont give a shit watch these events.

I'm talking competitive, intriguing baseball. Certainly don't expect it over the course of an entire series. But look at this series. Game 1 was expected to be a great pitcher's duel, wound up being a blowout for the Giants although that game was probably the most entertaining. Game 2 & Game 4 were about the same. Rangers can't get a hit. Giants pop a homer or two and once the Giants got up with the way Cain and Bumgarner were pitching, there was little question how the games were going to finish. Game 3 I honestly did not even watch.

I don't mind new teams, but they just normally don't produce anything compelling.

                                            world series ratings

                                            8.9 game 1
                                            8.5 game 2
                                            6.7 game 3 ouch!
                                            9.9 game 4

                                            average an 8.5

but they are winning the primetime battle but pretty low for world series standards

i will forever say that if the 97 and 03 teams woulda been kept together, ESPECIALLY 97, we woulda won ATLEAST 2 or 3 more in a row...that team was an all star team....

still can't believe it was all traded away for nothing...tears were shed

I'm just guessing on the ratings but don't be surprised if the numbers are at an all-time low.

                                                      Tied for LOWEST.

What I find interesting is that the one it tied with was the Phils-Rays. I think if you offered up a repeat of that Series or this year's ... the Phils-Rays would draw a shit ton better.
