I was a blue belt in Judo.
Then quit when I got mono freshmen year in high school.
Out of our camp/club we now have one of the top girls in the world, her sister trained when I was there, and she was very good. Now she has 2 younger sisters that are both ranked and one is ranked #1 in the under 18.Comment -

#10I took Japanese kenpo from the age of five till high school, got my black belt went to tournaments for sparring, breaking boards and doing weapons demos. It means nothing in a street fight anymore cause its been ten years since I put on a gee but id love to get back into it in some way there was nothing like it for exercise discipline and self confidenceComment -

I've also thought about it, but I'm not nearly as flexible as I was back in high school. I still play sports, but don't think I'd be suited for Judo anymore.Comment -

#21Karate is a joke, i used to take it when i was younger but in reality it doesnt help you at all in a fight. Now BJJ is another story, i feel that BJJ is one of a few forms of martial arts that will help you in an actual fight.Comment -

#26Used to have brown before realising that any1 with a clue would drop my arse in a street fight so i learnt wing chun street fighting (street fihghting part is a mix of 2/3rds wing chun with the rest consisting of muay thai, wushu and tai-chi, makes mma look soft).....After doing this 4 12 months there werent too many ppl in the world id be hesitant to take on.....
On a side note martial arts is like a double edged sword imo as you train for years and years fine tuning something that if u were to use unwisely on the streets could potentially get you locked up....I found it frustrating seeing every guy as a potential 'opponent' (as style of fighting would dictate) yet knowing that ive an lawful inability to use what i trained so long and hard for....Anyone else have this problem??? #27Any martial art can be used to fuk someone up. Don't sleep on karate, those of you who are mocking your involvement.
Just because you messed around with a McDojo to get your belt, don't hate on the next.Comment -

#29Pavy prey ur not in close quarters with ur opponent (ie less than 3 feet away) if u ever needed to use them as someone who knows what there doing would simply disable you from ur weapons and use them against you which would make u look silly indeed....If however u have a fair distance from ur opponent then ur gonna take out ur unarmed opponent hands down unless ur a really useless shot or throw...GLComment -

#34Forget abt "kung fu" and watch Vin Diesel in Knockaround Guys. payin money for the classes is just abt the same as yoga or tai chi--just more expensive. Better yet, pay a "collector" $50 bucks to tag along and watch what happens. Everything that needs to happen or is gonna happen takes place in less than 20 seconds.Comment -

Yeah their generally big guys but slow and only have the same set amount of moves which makes them easier to 'project'...GL
